I have a Standards Meeting (ISO/JTC1/SC29/WG11-Audio) that starts, effectively, on that Sunday. It's in Hong Kong.

I have to be concious to face a whole room full of people who are presently way put out with the USA and not very happy who I represent corporately either, so no way I can do anything other than leave to get a full night Saturday night.

I'd rather be at TAM. (whine)

P.S. It looks like the scholarship auction over at TOP is a total failure. Shame on all of you.

Hey, I'm actually taking great pride in the fact that I'll be paying my own way this year. I'm currently still at least 100€ over budget though, so it still needs some tweaking ...

the TAM registration costs seem very fare but with all the other costs involved it wouldn't be worth it for me to go into debt for a few months to pay it off.

If I were more flush with cash (as in not wiping out my account on my third trip in six months) I'd go buy something at the auctions (which I think should be run on ebay...).

If anyone wants to attend, but can't because they cannot afford the hotel or registration, wants to be there at least to meet everyone, and can afford air fair, let me know and you can stay with me and Jami.

For other readers, regarding your excuses, Pirate_Lad is being deployed to Iraq and I don't fully accept that as a reason for not attending. If being sent to war doesn't move me, don't expect any sympathy for things like busy schedules or financial considerations.

OK, so it's a bit of a drive, but you don't have to sleep in Vegas, like, I think that's a rule or something. The room is merely to place your bags in. Something can be worked out.
