Evolution believers should not hold office in the United States

This is a new twist from the radical right. It seems that believing in evolution means you can't be trusted to protect civil rights. Or so says Bryan Fischer.

that American people shouldn't vote for them because that guy, if he does not believe that we are created beings and that our rights come to us from God, that man cannot be trusted to protect your civil rights

I'm not sure how that is supposed to work. How is evolution connected to civil rights? But what would it mean?

We don't share ancestors with apes and baboons. In fact, I would suggest to you that if a politician, if somebody wants to exercise political power and he is an evolutionist, he is disqualified from holding political office in the United States of America.

There you go folks. If you believe in that science stuff you can't trusted with political power.

Here are a few thinks Wikipedia says about Bryan Fischer (from the site, bolding added):

Fischer opposes abortion, national health care, environmentalism, gay adoption, and same-sex marriage. Fischer's controversial comments on homosexuality were cited by Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in explaining the hate group designation they gave to the AFA in November 2010.

Fischer has voiced support for the AIDS denial movement. His guest on the January 3, 2012, edition of Focal Point was prominent AIDS denialist Peter Duesberg; Fischer strongly supported Duesberg's contention that AIDS is not caused by HIV, but by recreational drug use.

Fischer believes that the progressive income taxes and estate taxes violate the Eighth and Tenth Commandments, because (he feels) by taxing the income and estates of the well off, the government "steals and covets" their wealth.

In 2012, as jury selection was to begin in a trial on charges of kidnapping of a lesbian couple's daughter, Fischer wrote on Twitter in support of kidnapping of children from same-sex households and smuggling them to what he calls "normal" homes.

So, given all this, what else is new?

He is part of the right-wing movement that is the dominant, triumphant movement in the USA at the minute.

Do not give this kind of hater a bit of slack.

Then he should refuse to pay taxes, and follow Jesus' example of being willing to be persecuted for his beliefs.

This one is especially clever. How do you get around the fact that Jesus was so obviously anti-wealth? He spoke of it over and over. So what to do? You ignore what Jesus said and claim that the Ten Commandments were about taxation.

Allegedly Gandhi once said "Oh, I don't reject Christ. I love Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike Christ." He was a smart dude.

Given that there is not a single Republican member of Congress who supports this guy's idea - nor a single Republican governor - then it might be more accurate to call him a right-wing loon or right-wing extremist ( as Travis did) than it would to call him part of the dominant, triumphant movement.

Do not give this kind of hater a bit of slack.

I would also suggest not giving this guy the tiniest bit of attention.

But one can construct a counter-argument without any of the New Testament: if Reverend Whinybitch is so worried about how much income tax the government is taking, then he has placed mammon above God - violating the First Commandment. The First Commandment!

Well, yeah...

I thought that was obvious.

Unfortunately he speaks for the party in control, never mind who formally endorses his hate-spew.

No he doesn't speak for the party, he is a just a loon member of the party.

Just like Al Sharpton could be said to speak for the Democrats- NOT.

Actually I'm not sure Bryan Fischer is in any of the major political parties. He might consider them all too liberal for his taste.

A party is what it supports. The GOP overwhelmingly supports anti-science, religion, and creationism.

So it is what it is, no matter what kinds of meaningless words are spouted.

Let's look on the bright side, here:

We don't share ancestors with apes and baboons.

This quote, while wrong, is actually less wrong than what they used to say, which was along the lines of "We aren't descended from apes and baboons." So, apparently it's possible for even this twit to have learned something about evolution, at least so far as to allow him to mock the correct thing.

Give him another century or two, and he might even start saying things that are correct.

Last time I checked the ballot box results, "Triumphant" isn't a word I'd use. See Virginia, as but one example.
You know who believes in science? Evil scientists.
Hitler too..
Lawful evil or chaotic evil, Cain?
Silly jj, scientists are neutral evil. (AD & D, first edition ... ) :D
