Don't you think it's a little disingenuous to chastise one user for delivering a childish insult while delivering one of your own?

If you want reasoned debate, RandFan is as good as you will find anywhere, but you will need to take some responsibility on yourself too.

I hate it when you are right. :p

But why didn't you complain about RandFan's post to me?

Sorry Mark or is it Sock? In any event I have no problem appologizing for my posts.

It's a pet peve of mine when people simply post opinion. Go a bit further and tell us why you have that opinion. I respect differning points of view as long as that point of view is based in logic and thought.

Soldiers are still dying in Afghanistan, the people and government are becoming increasingly displeased with us and the Taliban is increasing in strength. Not to mention the lost opportunity for P.R. with the rest of the Muslim world (which is important if we are ever going to end this thing).

What, that isn't enough?

Yes, soldiers are dying in Afghanistan, what is the significance of this as it relates to your thesis? Do you think we should not have invaded Afghanistan? What people are you taking about? Do you mean the people in Afghanistan? How was that to be avoided and what does that have to do with the issue at hand? Why did you assume that the strength of the Taliban would be static or decreasing?

What P.R.? 9/11 was stark evidence that we wre not well liked in the Muslim world. Many of these folks are fanatics. Hatred of us has been preached for decades. We have been labled the Great Satan and Muslim leaders have held us up as the source of many of the ills of this world. The hatred toward us has been fomented by people we have no control over. Now if you want to argue that the invasion of Iraq has exahsberated the ill will then I would say that is valid but I personally think it was worth the cost. Any action we took caried a risk. We chose this action knowing what the risk was and we assumed that risk. That there is a risk does not mean that it was a wrong choice.

Thank you for the response.

Because I know him and I know he's fair and reasoned. You're new.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your stay. :)
