Er, his parents vehemently hated her for being a Native American. They get married secretly...and the racist parents welcome the newly-married kids back home with open arms and even put an announcement in the paper.

Riiiiight.

No one said his parents "vehemently hated" Warren's mother. They just didn't want them to get married. They got married and were of legal age to do so. What were the parents going to do? Disown them? And who says the parents put the add in the paper OR "welcomed them with open arms"? You are assuming a lot. Really, Vixen, that sound you hear is you scraping the bottom of the barrel for more excuses.

I think the sound is more like the scraping of goalposts against the ground.

You think that was the spirit of Trump's stupid remark? Do you think he knew that the $2 wouldn't show if she had NA ancestry? No $2 test exits for that matter. He owes her charity the money. I'd love for his smart ass, bullying mouth to cost him a million bucks. Maybe he'd learn a lesson. But I doubt it.

Odd, you are not too concerned with all the actual Native Americans decrying her racist stunt then?

Because you know: racist?

Hopefully some more white folks can tell us how much they enjoy junk science scams like this one.

Ok. I haven't followed this closely enough. Is that what she really claimed? I'll do a bit of googling myself, but if anyone could post a link that referred to a place where she said, before Trump's "bet", that her Indian ancestry was a single ancestor that many generations ago, then I think there would be a point.

I had heard that she claimed a Native American ethnicity on demographic forms, and that her parents had to elope because of anti-Indian prejudice. That doesn't sound much like one ancestor six generations ago to me, but I'll see what I can find.

Here is an article from 2012, years before Trump's bet that cites her claiming 1/32 (without a specific quote).

You know,, I have not the least bit of doubt, that if you changed nothing about the situation other than to make Elizabeth Warren a Republican, you would be complaining bitterly about identity politics and political correctness run amok, besmirching the good name of an honorable public servant.

Well no, I really doubt Trump knows enough about the subject to know the difference between 23 and me and a more rigorous genetic analysis. That's clearly the test he was talking about though, even if he didn't know what it costs.

Actual Native Americans decried the use of 'Pocahontas' by Republicans in their attempt to smear a political rival, and were ignored then too. So racist. Their being Native American does not make them infallible or gospel wisdom, however, the Cherokee saying her test doesn't make her a tribal member completely ignores that she hasn't claimed tribal membership and the test doesn't even say 'Cherokee' on it.

and I have not the least bit of doubt that you would not criticize Warren for her actual racist stunt....

looks at actual thread.... And I did not have to make up any hypothetical ******** like you just did.

Yeah, that is why fallacious accusations of hypocrisy are the worst arguments ever.

Silly Native Americans! Thanks for whataboutism and then explaining that we should disregard Native American concerns.

Hmm... That would be racist! Like this : "Their being Native American does not make them infallible or gospel wisdom, however, the Cherokee saying her test doesn't make her a tribal member completely ignores that she hasn't claimed tribal membership and the test doesn't even say 'Cherokee' on it."

Whitesplained!

He could have been talking about Ancestry.com which is even more well known than 23 & Me. Regardless, he didn't think she would take a DNA test at all because he'd been calling her Pocahontas for quite some time and she hadn't. I think he felt quite safe and just got his bully on. No matter how it's turned or twisted, he challenged her, she accepted the challenge, he lost and now he's trying to get out of paying up.

I am curious how her DNA test is a racist stunt. Can you elaborate?

Sure!

"all my whitesplaining trolls the last 2 days are warren supporters. Indigenous people are not going to just sit down, shut up, and let all of you tell us what are the actual issues we should focus on in your nation built on the blood, bones, and stolen land of Indigenous people."

"Racist" does not mean 'mentioned race in any way shape or form'. Do you feel that Native American concerns should only be heard when they are saying what you agree with, and ignored when they counter you? That actually *is* racist.

I'm not actually sure what TBD is talking about when he says "racist stunt". The DNA test is a reasonable assumption, given that it didn't come from a reasonable poster.

Junk science isn't a really accurate characterization of the tests done either, though I would characterize the genetic testing to be evidence in support of, rather than proof, of Warren's belief that she has one or more Native American ancestors.

Who are you quoting and how does that explain your statement?

Hmmm.... Folks, who knows what I am going to say?

That is right!

Kinda like Warren's actual racist stunt, as shown repeatedly in this thread?

That is why false accusations of hypocrisy SUCK.

Say, here is another article for the whitesplaining Warren fans to ignore:

“But that distinction actually cuts to the heart of why Native Americans are so upset with her. Fundamentally, their anger is about what it means to be Native American — and who gets to decide.”

Why Many Native Americans Are Angry With Elizabeth Warren

Hopefully some white folk can tell us how happy they were with the dna test that told them they was white!

Did you read it? Kim was angry at the American people for being stupid and thinking DNA tests had anything to do with tribal membership, not Warren. She's also NOT MADE TRIBAL MEMBERSHIP claims which some of the other quotes you've been trotting out are condemning. Whitesplain that strawman on your own.

This is important because if you look at Trump's challenge (paraphrase)" If she would take the DNA test, you know, the 2 dollar test you see on TV and send it in, if it shows Indian ancestry I would give her a million dollars" she didn't do that. From what I know of the 23 and me test, her trace amount wouldn't have shown up, perhaps why she didn't accept the challenge but hired a guy to do a more rigorous test. My conclusion is that while she does have a Native American ancestor, she is not owed a million dollars.

Pretty weak sauce you got there.

I heard them when they were angry at Trump, and agreed with them. I hear them when they are angry at Warren, though apparently some are angry at all of us and not her, or at her for something she hasn't done. I heard them both times. Do you bother to listen to other people?
