Electromagnetic Energy

I heard someone say this weekend that Humans are pure electromagnetic energy. Is this statement true? Something about it doesn’t sound right to me.
He also went on to say that when humans think positively their molecules align like magnets and attract other positive things into their lifes, he then went on to say that this is proven by the universal law of magnetism.

I suspect that there is no truth to these statements at all, can someone verify this?

I don't know whether it's true or not that you heard it, but humans are not "pure electromagnetic energy" in any meaningful or standard sense of the words.

Similarly, the idea that their molecules align like magnets is simply wrong, and the "law of magnetism" that he cites doesn't exist.

So, no.

Sounds like someone didn't have a clue what they were talking about.

Yeah I thought so. I heard these statements at a seminar I was conned into attending called PSI which is some personal growth type of thing.

It was all pretty normal until the last day when the instructor started quoting Deepak Chopra and those ridiculous "experiments" with negative thoughts and water molecules.

Aligning the magnetic fields of the molecules in your body should be pretty easy to detect with a cheap compass.

Also, "pure electromagnetic energy" has a tendency to travel at the speed of light, and not sit there like an ugly bag of water.

This is pseudoscience, or if that word is too loaded, this is nonsense adorned in the terminology of science.

You mean these guys?

I'm sure it's all above board, and there isn't some package they're trying to sell you, to convince you that the way to enlightenment is to give your money to them.

Oh wait, how disillusioning: "A successful life is within the grasp of every person! Most people know this. However, they must be willing to pay the price of education."

Well, they probably make no profit at all from this stuff.

No, it makes perfect sense. Negative thoughts must be negatively charged because, after all, they're negative! Why, I'll bet I could read them on my scientology E-meter if I tried.

But wait... opposites attract. That means that if I want to attract positive thoughts, then thinking lots of negative thoughts will do it. And also being really negative will attract lots of positive people. Hmmm, somehow this doesn't sound right. Science is hard.

Well, ostensibly matter and energy are equivalent (or one can be transformed into the other)... but I doubt this is what you meant.

Note for the physicists in the room: my physics is armchair level at best. Don't stone me for a gross simplification :)

I also heard Tony Robbins say the same thing. My next cubicle over neighbor at work listens to his drek constantly. Another amazing claim of his is that if you eat alot of almonds, you can reduce the amount of negative energy coursing through your life force. of couse the lady in the next cubicle runs right out to the store and buys almonds...har har

Didn't I read somewhere somewhen that those who gobble almonds run a risk of actually consuming enough to suffer the effects of cyanide poisoning? Or am I thinking of some other vegetable I wouldn't eat at gunpoint? :D

Yeah, but you'd have to eat hundreds a day.

Likewise, if you are a thousand apples (including seeds) you'd probably be similarly sick.

Genesis 2:7 then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

There you go... man is made of dust. Look no further. :p

If you eat enough almonds I bet you can feel the life force "coursing through" you. ;)

O.

Abuse of the different definitions for "positive".

Doink!

If you eat funny-tasting (spoiled) food, clowns will be attracted to you...

Well, according to my physics professor, the electromagnetic force is the force which is fundamentally responsible for most of the physical interactions that keep our world together. However, I get the strangest idea that he was not getting at the same thing as that person who you talked to this past weekend.

Given E=mc^2 and my mass is around 100 kg , I am roughly 8,987,551,787,368,180,000 Joules.

I hope this is "positive" energy or I'm really screwed.

Better get some almonds.:D
