Edward Snowden Triple Agent

Disclaimer: The following scenario may very well be more of Hollywood fiction than a realistic conspiracy theory.

Edward Snowden as a triple agent, simultaneously mantling the following roles:

1. Ordinary spy working for CIA and NSA.

"WASHINGTON — Edward J. Snowden says he was not merely a “low-level analyst” writing computer code for American spies, as President Obama and other administration officials have portrayed him. Instead, he says, he was a trained spy who worked under assumed names overseas for the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency." -- http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/29/u...ys-he-was-a-spy-not-just-an-analyst.html?_r=0

2. Double spy working for the CIA to undermine the competing NSA.

3. Triple spy working for the NSA who knows what mischief the CIA is up to.

The idea for the conspiracy theory comes from a conspiracy researcher (I don't remember who) saying that there is a "turf war" going on between the CIA and the NSA for who will get most budget funding etc. The speculative part is that I made quite an extrapolation from that to Edward Snowden.

As evidence in support of my formidable conspiracy theory I present the case of email snooping on at the time CIA boss David Petraeus:

"TAMPA — In an opinion piece appearing Tuesday on the Wall Street Journal's website, Tampa socialite Jill Kelley equates her government privacy dispute with the National Security Agency's eavesdropping scandal.

"It has been a full year since federal agents snooped through the private emails of my husband and me, setting in motion a series of events that ultimately led to the resignations of Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus and Gen. John Allen, the commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan," the piece written by Kelley says." -- http://www.tampabay.com/news/milita...ites-nsa-snooping-in-telling-her-tale/2151013

This snooping on their very top boss infuriated the CIA to such extent that they made Edward Snowden collect sensitive information about NSA operations that later was to be disclosed to the world, as has happened. Meanwhile the NSA knew about the plot and let the CIA go on with it so that they would put dirt on themselves that the NSA later will use to strike a blow against the CIA. Or so the speculation goes. :D

John Kerry is upset about Edward Snowden, and for good reasons. He is according to Texe Marrs a covert CIA operative.

"Graduating from Yale in 1966, young Kerry was promptly recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency to be one of their chosen. His appointment to the spy agency was kept a guarded secret. In fact, the CIA has long been known as a harbor, or preserve, of the Bonesmen." -- http://www.texemarrs.com/052004/john_kerry_coverup_artist.htm

“Edward Snowden is a coward,” Kerry told Chuck Todd on MSNBC. “He is a traitor. And he has betrayed his country. And if he wants to come home tomorrow to face the music, he can do so.” -- http://www.politico.com/story/2014/...rd-john-kerry-msnbc-interview-nsa-107157.html

4. Quadruple spy working for the CIA who knows what mischief they are up to and doesn't care. The pay is good and the NSA pays him too.

Jesus.

The NSA and CIA have two different intelligence roles. The NSA monitors electronic emissions (radio, cell phone, satellite comms, military coms, foreign government coms, internet coms (external CONUS).

The CIA gathers intelligence using satellites, human agents, and reading open source materials along with the classified materials. The CIA is also used to influence the political and social landscapes in countries considered hostile to the US.

The NSA reports to the CIA, which stands for Central Intelligence Agency, meaning they are the Central Agency for all US Intelligence. From there they now report to the ODNI (look it up).

Snowden fixed computers for the NSA at their Hawaii station as a private contract worker. He was not an NSA employee. Both the CIA and NSA require a Bachelor's degree to be an employee, Snowden didn't have one.

In that case the CIA needs to wise up to the fact that rivalry between government agencies is detrimental for the overall national security. Or else Obama will let the NSA gobble up the CIA and turn it into one of their departments in order to stop the conflict and detrimental intra-operational friction. The days of care-less-ness are over.

If Snowden had such low credentials then how do you think he got hold of all the sensitive information about the NSA? The CIA (or someone else) gave it to him!

The Obama administration needs to do something about this:

“I will say the 1.7 million documents figure that the intelligence community has been banding—about—the director of N.S.A. himself, Keith Alexander said just a week ago in the Australian Financial Times, or Australian Financial Review I believe—that they have no idea what documents were taken at all. Their auditing was so poor, so negligent, that any private contractor, not even — an employee of the government, could walk into the N.S.A. building, take whatever they wanted, and walk out with it and they would never know. Now, I think that’s a problem. And I think that’s something that needs to be resolved, and people need to be held to account for, has it happened before? Could it happen again?” -- http://www.nbcnews.com/feature/edwa...ward-snowden-sits-down-brian-williams-n117006

You know who else was a triple agent? Severus Snape. That's right, Edward Snowden is a potions master.

The idea for the conspiracy theory comes from a conspiracy researcher....
What's a "conspiracy researcher"? Can one major in that in college? How big is the AACR (American Association of Conspiracy Researchers)? Is there continuing education requirements? Is there a retirement plan?

Point of order: the NSA does not report to the CIA any longer, as any role the CIA may have had in overseeing the other intelligence agencies went to the wayside when the ODNI was formed. NSA reports directly to the ODNI like all the other intel agencies; they also fall under the Department of Defense and as such are answerable to them. Otherwise, your post is spot on.

Admittedly my conspiracy theory here is highly speculative and a bit childish. There is however a slight theoretical possibility that Snowden will drop a bombshell like: "The CIA gave me information about NSA operations and ordered me to expose it to the public."

A more probable scenario is probably that it was the NSA that ordered Snowden to publish the information as a limited hangout.

"A limited hangout, or partial hangout, is a public relations or propaganda technique that involves the release of previously hidden information in order to prevent a greater exposure of more important details." -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_hangout
