• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

DVD writing software

After a suggestion to use 'knoppix nodma' on bootup from another forum, Knoppix is able to run on my system.

Wish I could say the same for the Ubuntu live-CD. :(

Sigh. I managed to get a kind of bootable disc, but it won't boot up as far as a GUI, which the knoppix guide says it should. All I get is a weird DOS prompt.

Oh well, it's been more fun than replacing windows (real ones), which is what I should have spent the weekend doing. :)
