Merged Due process in the US

They kinda need to make up their minds what they want him to do.

If they don't want Mexicans with Arabic-sounding names in the country any more (despite his having a green card) but they won't permit him to leave either, then what the hell do they want?
Judging from precedent, I'm guessing public suffering and humiliation.

Can't let them leave, gotta round them up so they can be sent to El Salvador and other inhumane holes from which they can never return.

Donald on the SCOTUS ruling

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
The Supreme Court has just ruled that the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members, and even those who are mentally insane, who came into our Country illegally, are not allowed to be forced out without going through a long, protracted, and expensive Legal Process, one that will take, possibly, many years for each person, and one that will allow these people to commit many crimes before they even see the inside of a Courthouse. The result of this decision will let more CRIMINALS pour into our Country, doing great harm to our cherished American public. It will also encourage other criminals to illegally enter our Country, wreaking havoc and bedlam wherever they go. The Supreme Court of the United States is not allowing me to do what I was elected to do. Sleepy Joe Biden allowed MILLIONS of Criminal Aliens to come into our Country without any "PROCESS" but, in order to get them out of our Country, we have to go through a long and extended PROCESS. In any event, thank you to Justice Alito and Justice Thomas for attempting to protect our Country. This is a bad and dangerous day for America!

Has he ever explained what he means with "mentally insane"? It's such a weird thing to stress among murderers and gang members.

I suppose being mentally insane might be thought different from being ideologically insane. To be ideologically insane is to do horrible things because you believe them fine and beautiful and perfect, whereas those who are merely mentally insane hardly care at all. Our fearless leader puffs up with pride to proclaim that when he inflicts suffering and chaos and destruction, it's not just an accident.

It's as Flo said, he actually thought "asylum" seekers were people being released from mental health facilities i.e. mental asylums in foreign countries. He really is that thick and ignorant.

Or trusts his audience to be. Trump is a BSer. Truth and whether he personally believes it don't really matter when it comes to what he says. Also, to repeat a relevant quote to what was taught to him by Roy Cohn -

"There was no point in seeking to convert the intellectuals. For intellectuals would never be converted and would anyway always yield to the stronger, and this will always be "the man in the street." Arguments must therefore be crude, clear and forcible, and appeal to emotions and instincts, not the intellect. Truth was unimportant and entirely subordinate to tactics and psychology."

A disturbing tale of a gay barber, a venezuelan, asylum seeker deported to the Salvadoran mega prison almost certainly based on tattoos.
When Andry Hernández got a pair of tattoos on his wrists with the words mom and dad, he thought they would look even more striking if he added something else to them, according to the tattoo artist, José Manuel Mora.

"What if you add some small crowns?" Mr Hernández is said to have asked the artist.

The crown is the symbol of the Catholic annual Three Kings Day celebrations for which Mr Hernández's Venezuelan hometown, Capacho Nuevo, is famed.

Seven years later, those crowns may have led to Mr Hernández - who describes himself as a gay barber - being locked up in El Salvador's mega-prison,,,.

His legal team says Mr Hernández's interrogation at the centre was carried out by an official from the private company CoreCivic - a company contracted by the government - not by Ice agents.

CoreCivic official Arturo Torres, acting as interviewer, used a score system to determine whether a detainee is part of a criminal organisation.

It has nine categories, each with its own score. According to the criteria, the detainees are considered gang members if they score 10 or more points, and they are considered suspects if they score nine or fewer points.

Mr Hernández was given five points for the tattoos on his wrists, which included two crowns, according to paperwork signed in December 2024 by officers from the company.

The interviewing officer wrote: "Detainee Hernández has a crown on each one of his wrist. The crown has been found to be an identifier for a Tren de Aragua gang member".
At least criminal kidnappers are prepared to provide proof of life, his family can't even get that.

Due Process doesn't apply because the Jan6 rioters were sent to jail apparently

It's really hard for me to believe that any reasonably intelligent person could so badly misunderstand the difference between the reality and the cartoon version of it as presented here by Miller and Mike Davis (whoever the ◊◊◊◊ that is). It's not, unfortunately, at all difficult for me to believe that they would deliberately so misstate the case- propaganda relies on just that sort of cartoon to stir up a base that actively wants to be misled.

Stephen Miller is the most dangerous person in the Trump administration. He is a true believer in white nationalism. And unlike Donald Trump, he is sharp enough on his feet to seem like he knows what he's talking about. Fun fact: Stephen Miller does not have a law degree.
