Merged Due process in the US

Every 30 days i need to re-register, whatever that means? How do they expect to find us if we miss a deadline? Divination?

It's stupid. If you want to track people, travellers already register at hotels using passports. Use that data, for Odin's sake.
Seriously...you need to reregister every 30 days. I must have missed that.

I'm not seeing anything about tracking people. You get a piece of paper that says you can stay in the USA for a period longer than 30 days then put it in your wallet. easy peasy.

When you come into the USA via Border Security, they process and register your passport as a standard part of the tourist entry process. They know we are in the country. They have our ID's, our deets, our photos. I like that. If I go missing for any reason, I want somebody to know who I am and who to contact. So what need of easily-losable pieces of redundant, useless paper that now seem to be ignored regardless anyway?

Bureaucrats gonna bureaucrat. The weird thing about this is they want you to print off a copy even if you've used the online system. There's plenty of other things Trump to freak out about this one is pretty minor. Some places, e.g. Thailand want you to have your passport on you at all times. Scooter rental places want you to leave your passport as a deposit on the scooter (so they can scam you for damages) and if you get pulled over and you don't have your passport on you, then you better have the cash for the cop.

Is he American?
If Herc is American, and voted, then the chance he voted for Trump is only 1.48% greater than the chance he voted for Harris.

I'm sure I don't really have to explain how voting works, which is why I'm equally sure that you're just making a really dumb argument for the sake of getting attention.

And yet we were told DOGE is gonna eliminate this sort of red-tape, redundancy and waste.

No, none of this establishes being an unregistered alien as a crime. It is not a crime, punishable by fine or prison, to be in the USA illegally. Nor is their any criminal statute stating a criminal penalty for doing such. The only possible penalty, is deportation. Which is simply an administrative procedure.

To put it simply, if you are deported from the USA because you are here on vacation but didn't register, your criminal history is clean.

Beyond this, a crime is something you stand trial for, before a judge & jury. You cannot be put on trial before a judge in jury for being in the USA without registration. Cuz its not a actual crime.
Now you're just nit picking.

Uh, no. Tourists are foreign nationals. By definition. And the standard US B2 tourist visa is for 180 days - 6 months.

Here's the reporting on the announcement. They did not say "alien residents" or "temporary visa holders" or "wetbacks", etc. They clearly said "all foreign nationals". They forgot about all the foreign tourists because they are so goddam focused on trying to find and throw out brown refugees and political opponents regardless of residency or criminal status.
The US government has made it mandatory for all foreign nationals residing the country for more than 30 days to register with federal authorities. The change was first introduced by President Donald Trump via executive order and greenlit by a federal judge on Thursday. The White House has indicated that aliens who failed to register themselves could face incarceration and even deportation.

All foreign nationals present in the United States longer than 30 daysmust register with the federal government. Failure to comply with this is a crime punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both… If not, you will be arrested, fined, deported, never to return to our country again,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
This is a really, really REALLY stupid policy. If pursued, it will kill the tourist industry.

I know, eh. Sometimes it helps to read the news of America with circus music playing in the background.
Every country has its own variety of bureaucratic red-tape madness. We are certainly not immune from it here. I used to be in a state public service, which was riddled with it - maddening. So I guess I'm sensitive to seeing it being generated utterly unnecessarily where it was not before.

Same here, I just figured I couldn't handle another 30 years of this crap, quit, and went out on my own. Sure, their checks were good, benefits too but there was more to life than filling out forms and torturing the general public with policy.

I doubt this will have much effect on tourism. I'm seeing a lot of "avoid the place like the plague" and anybody who's going to stay more than 30 days will just have to jump through a few extra hoops. None of these hassles at the border are new, this has been going on for decades. They're just in the news more now.

Tourism to the USA is down about 3.5% on last year, and 11.5% for March. There's still plenty of year left for it to fall further. Having to deal with stupid Trumpy policies made up on the run, plus the prospect of Border Security thugs going belligerent for the lulz does not help.

It looks to me that it is you who doesn't know how it works. It isn't very difficult to understand but (just for you) I'll walk you through it. Trump won the Democratic election. True? Or false? It was the Americans who voted Trump into office. True? Or false? Is Hercule American? That was my question. Are you beginning to see the light? Oh that's nice but, if you're just making a really dumb and obstinate argument for the sake of getting attention ..............

Yes, this little legal loophole can be abused to keep citizens from getting back into their country, OR to force citizens to give up their phones, computers, notepads, and answer questions without a warrant or arrest. Bill of Rights doesn't apply outside the USA.
Which is rather hypocritical, given that the US seeks to impose other laws outside its borders which other countries don't.

Trump is doing what he sees worth doing. But he is a very successful businessman and he understands that if his assessments are incorrect he doesn't allow his ego to interfere with making the right (or better) choice or even change. That is how success is measured and that is also why he is a better president than B-movie actors, peanut farmers, CIA agents, DEI shoe-ins, business under-achievers, geriatric zombies, and those who lie about being middle class climbers. Trump will be recognised as one of the best presidents the US has ever had.
Wow, I've been misinformed. I've been told that he won the election and that he is (at this very moment) the president of the United States. :usa:
Honour your president. You voted him into the White House. If you didn't want him as president you ought to have voted for the geriatric zombie or Hillary ... or whatever her name is.
You voted for him.

Are you really so desperate for attention that you need to resort to the dishonest argumentation and general inanity that you've demonstrated here?
