Good! Parker is also a Republican appointed by Trump.
Couldn't those 98% not take their kids to such shows... along with drag shows, or any shows they find objectionable for their children to see![]()
Good. Hopefully sense will continue to prevail and keep things focused where they ought to be.
Like criminalizing abortion?![]()
Why do you do this? You know quite well that I unequivocally oppose the criminalization of abortion. So please stop trying to put words in my mouth. The "winky" doesn't make it any less of a personal affront.

But how does that attack the LGBT community? Keep focused on what is important.
Both legally and philosophically abortion and the legalization of homosexuality (in the US, at least) come from the same principle. They call it "privacy" in legal debate, but really it's nothing less than the notion that we own our own bodies. The opposition holds the opposite view: that you do not own your body, you do not have the right to do what you please with it even if it only affects yourself. No abortion because your reproductive system belongs to God, not you. No gay sex because your reproductive system belongs to God, not you. Your body is just something God graciously permits you to operate under limited license and under strict rules interpreted by his loudest adherents. Who don't care that you're not a follower of their religion, they want you to follow their rules anyway.
Can those 98% keep their kids home from school, refuse to let them go on school outings, and ban them from school and community sponsored library events?
If this were a completely voluntary thing, sure. The entire reason that this has gained attention is that it is happening in schools and in public libraries - in venues and at events where parents have previously been led to believe that the material would be age-appropriate and child-friendly.
Are Drag Queens Coming For Your Kids?
Apologies if this has been covered before... but having occasionally visited this thread I don't see it.
For the kind of events you're speaking of, at public libraries and schools, what kind of age-inappropriate behavior has been displayed, especially in ways that have misled parents?
I have a former coworker who I've been following on various social media. I've been watching him fall for one conservative moral panic after another: anti-racism is racist, CRT, woke'ism, liberals are pedophile, etc.
What's interesting is that he was ostensibly pro-gay or, at least, live-and-let-live with gays. Over the last, oh, six months or so, his anti-drag themed posts (which tie into the "liberals are sexualizing the kids" panic) began shifting into anti-trans posts and, just recently, those have expanded to being anti-all-the-LGBTQA+ posts.
I've heard several commentators suggest that, in the wake of losing their abortion wedge issue, the right starting latching onto the drag shows, and then, trans issues as their new wedge issue as a way to re-litigate gay marriage. My former co-worker is my canary in the coal mine and just fell off his perch.
They're using it against public education in general too. 'Groomer' is their current catch-all to justify their desired violence and control against teachers, non-cishet people, Democrats, whoever.
They have become so villainous they have to pretend everyone they don't like are raping children to keep their own cognitive dissonance at bay.
The DeSantis administration sued the U.S. Education Department and top federal officials this week, claiming they are impeding efforts by Florida universities to switch accreditors — a significant priority for state Republicans.
Florida’s suit is challenging federal rules governing accreditation boards that Gov. Ron DeSantis contends wield too much power over schools and are circumventing policies and decisions from state leaders. The lawsuit marks the latest legal battle between DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate, and the Biden administration as the sides continue to clash over an unrelated high-profile immigration dispute.
“Within the next couple years, I think we’re going to see this accreditation cartel basically come crumbling down and more freedom in higher education reigning supreme,” DeSantis said Thursday at an event in Tampa announcing the lawsuit.
Accreditation agencies generally ensure higher education institutions meet standards of quality and are a necessary go-through for schools to ensure their students are eligible for billions of dollars in federal financial aid.
In Florida, Republicans for years have been at odds with the state’s accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, or SACS, over several disagreements leading to a landmark 2022 law triggering every state school to seek out a new accreditation board. More than half of Florida’s 40 state colleges and universities, as a result, are expected to change accreditors in the next two years through shifts that will send millions of dollars to a different agency.
“Governor DeSantis is now bringing his culture wars, like book bans, to the long-standing system that helps ensure students receive a quality college education,” the White House said in a statement.
