I see nothing to suggest that the person on the sex offender registry is the same person on the flyer, other than it placing two images side-by-side. There are no aliases mentioned on the registry, for example. Are you suggesting those two are the same person and, if so, how do you know?

The event's organizers stated that Garza was able to take part in Drag Queen Storytime because they only began performing background checks in October 2018, shortly after Garza's final appearance at the event. Houston Public Library does its own background checking on all volunteers, but according to KTRK-TV, Garza slipped through the cracks because she gave her name as "Nicky Salazar" and did not provide a date of birth or Social Security number. On March 15, 2019, Houston Public Library (HPL) apologized for the oversight in a press release:

It's like me trying to tar all priests as criminals by referencing the time that the Catholic Church spent so much time enthusiastically encouraging child abuse by protecting child abusing priests by protecting them and moving them on to unsuspecting parishes to continue their abuse

I live in the US. I know someone who does drag shows. I played tuba with him in a couple of concerts.

Perhaps, just maybe, what you are describing from 30 years ago in one specific part of the country might not be the same as how it is now?

Yes, hundreds if not thousands of these events have been held and at one point a bad person slipped through but by all accounts did no damage at the event. But now that’s just grist for the right wing rage machine who will now write to Rep Gaetz and retweet Boebert’s husband’s take on the events.

The person who posted this also posted fake trans surgery claims that were so egregious the mods didn’t just AAH the post, they removed it. So they are basically just a rage-bait poster at this point.

It's not a hasty generalisation, it's a deliberate attempt to tar all drag performers with a single brush and it's part of an utterly bogus slippery slope argument that holds that all drag performers are gay and that all gay men are paedophiles.

As a result drag performers reading stories to children in libraries present a real danger to children and must be stopped at all costs. Because listening to a drag performer read will inevitably turn the child gay and hence into a paedophile.

As others have pointed out if a single instance is enough to disqualify a whole group we must also disqualify all mothers, fathers, single people, children, ministers, preachers, politicians, business people and so on from reading to children at a public library.

So the children always had a parent or guardian with them and no-one was allowed unsupervised access to the children.

By way of comparison, the Hillsong Church in Sydney knowingly protected a child abuser from police investigation and allowed him ongoing unsupervised access to children.

I wonder if that means that the anti drag folk will now start objecting to children being allowed to attend evangelical Christian Churches.

The library admitted they ****** up and they haven't done it since. You're right, it was a mistake and a careless one. The issue is rectified.
