I do love how the existence of drag shows is the cause of all the problems in Auckland in Samson's mind. I don't buy for one second they are the cause of any.

Isn’t it more likely that poor parenting is? Isn't this just a hateful excuse?

I would like to see a pause in drag shows in Auckland.
Homosexuality is a dead issue in the west as the science is settled. Drag and trans are cases where the warring armies consider whether the body is right or the mind is right.

Generally speaking, drag is a performance put on by gay cis men, not trans people. The idea that drag is meant to condition children into being transgender seems to be a relatively new fascination of the reactionary right for a type of performance that has been a well established niche of gay culture for a long time now.

Incidentally Monty Python may not be aired on the BBC, but other channels like Dave do. Secondly, Little Britain also features drag performances and they are more recent. You seem to be under the illusion that the BBC is some conservative uptight Bastion. Though there are those in the Government who would like it to be so...saner minds prevail.

In the UK I would say (outside of one TV show) kids today are less likely to be "exposed" to drag than they were when I was a kid. Drag used to be tied to the "variety show" format so as that has waned over the decades so has its prevalence in mainstream entertainment.

Yes I was the same till I saw politicians and legacy media inspiring a crowd including drag characters to violence in Albert Park Auckland. There was no expression of regret, but doubling down.
Since then I have come to realise this is seriously ruining families with misdiagnoses, and tossing drag into it now is fuel for a new wildfire.
I have watched the dominoes topple and it is very ugly.
I would pause drag shows for kids while every other matter is understood and there is clarity, not confusion for kids.
This is where the circus characters go feral.

You might be underestimating the intellectual capability of children and overestimating your own understanding of child psychology.

Limiting shows that are sexual in nature might be reasonable But drag shows are NOT necessarily sexual. Most that are happen in adult venues.
But you know what? I wouldn't care if they were. Why can't parents have honest discussions with their children about sex? What are they so afraid of?

Or in the UK hosting primetime TV game shows, or currently as the star of one of the most popular sitcoms in the UK and Ireland.
