Don't Ask Don't Tell Filibustavoted Down... Are we run by (some type of) holes?

It'll come back up in the lame duck session (that's why Harry Reid voted for the filibuster - it's a really weird Senate rule that allows him to bring up the bill again later). I'm guessing after the election, DADT will be repealed before the new Congress is seated because a lot of pressure will be off. In addition, the Pentagon's analysis will be concluded by Dec. 1st and it will probably show that repealing DADT will not have an adverse effect on the armed forces. so that will deny a lot of political cover for people hiding behind the "let the Pentagon finish its analysis first" rhetoric.

I predict it'll pass with the support of at least 3 Republican Senators (most likely Snowe, Collins, and Brown). DADT's going down - it's only a matter of time...

It better go down or I am going to have very serious personal problem at work. No I am not gay or in the military. It will just be a serious problem at work.

If you are not gay or in the military how will this affect you at work?

There are rumors that Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, may be gay, and James Bond has saved the world countless times. So if James Bond gets kicked out of the service for being gay, well.

And we won't even get into the value of Kirk and Spock, and we all know about their rumors, too.

It's amazing to me that it's even an issue. Way back in the 60's, when I was in the army, I was a medic. About 1/3 of the battalion's medical platoon were gay, so far as I could tell, including the E6 in charge of the dispensary.
No one seemed to mind in the slightest... If you were sick or injured you called for a medic, not a straight medic.

However.... NPR's Fresh Air has twice now interviewed a reporter who has written extensively about the activities of fundamentalist Christians in Congress through the "C-Street" facility and the rather shadowy group called The Family.
As well, in the segment they ran Wednesday, they discussed the rise of fundamentalism in the military. There seems to be an increasing tendency for military types to see themselves as "Christian Warriors" and to see the military as a safe refuge for Christians.
(since many fundamentalists see themselves as under attack by modern society)

All the more reason to shine a light on extremism at home as well as abroad. This is ridiculous.
