The jury couldn't decide on the death penalty so all that's left is life without parole. The sentences ensure that he will never get out of prison. Why do you care if it's 200 or 3000 years?
Don't mistake an appreciation for the absurd with caring. The joke will only be improved when we start handing out million-year sentences, you know - to ensure they never get out of prison.
It reminds me of Scientology's "Billion-Year Contract." Only when Scientology does it, more people laugh.
Remember that bombing in Oklahoma? Killed more than 160 people. I wonder how Timothy McVeigh is doing? Probably still dead. But perhaps justice would have been served better if Tim had gotten a 10,000-year sentence instead. He'd be close to 50 years-old by now. Maybe sharing his thoughts with other independent thinkers. An interview here and there. A letter to his supporters. Freedom of speech and all that.
I don't miss him.
