On a side note (I post about it here because I'm not sure if I've seen you post on the other sections of the board.) I find you choice of Avatar interesting Riddick. Any symbolism behind it or are you just a fan of the game?
 
Nope. I don't beleive in God. Why would I believe in another being from the same mythos.

Last night I watched a video of 'The Madness of King George III'
Of course, I the USA it was retitled as 'The Madness of King George' because it was felt that most Americans wouldn't want to see it, because they hadn't watched parts I and II.
The masses in the USA? yeah, right.

Yeah, I believe in the Devil, and I believe in angels, and I believe in God... but zombies? No f-ing way, thats just too far out there, belief in zombies is utterly ridiculous.
 
The poll brings "The Usual Suspects" to mind. Probably one of the best movies to come out of Hollywood in a long long time. Verbal Kent, the "Man with the Plan". When he quoted the famous "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn't exist."


Makes sense if you think about it. If I was Satan you really wouldn't want people to believe you existed right? I mean, sure you got your obvious loyal followers, but that's a small minority. Deception is always the key, wouldn't you think?

I'm not so free with throwing around percentages, but I'd expect that far more Americans believe in God than in the Devil.

I would be interested to find out what proportion of that 93% were:
1) atheists who wanted to keep the words out of respect for tradition
2) non- theists who didn't give a damn about changing it.
3) agnostics
4) other religions for who 'God' may mean Krishna, Satan, Gaia (sp?), or whoever.

I don't believe in the Christain God of good. Why would I believe in the Christian God of evil?

For monotheists they have way too many supernatural beings.

You don't need a source of evil other than people. They are bastards enough on their own.

"Hitler was a demon!"
"No, he was a$$holeoid."
"Oh, well...it's still the end-times."

And wasn't the original term for satan the name of some middle-eastern tribe everyone hated? Like 'Barbarian' meant non-roman....'satan' was someone from the other clan?
 
How someone can claim to be a Christian and not believe in a real Satan is beyond me.

Not believing in a Devil is even more ignorant than not believing in a God.

Believe in the Devil? Nope. But a fundie-Christian once said I was a "tool of Satan" so I kind of wish that there was a Devil. I'd feel so special knowing that he goes out of his way to manipulate me directly, rather than pawning me off to some lesser demon. :D
