Most of them probably don't. In their profession you can look into the Heavens and see many amazing things but theres one thing you can't see. God or anything else that isn't there.

There is a few study on that, and in the case of the USA, it is for *scientist* (not only physicist) a 40-40 things , the rest being undecided.

The things is, it does not seem to be extrapolatable to all country, as a similar study I remember there were more atheism physicist in sweden and less in italy/spain in percentage. I can't find it anymore in google, and can't be bothered.

It probably correlates with the atheism rate in the of the country - but being lower than in the general population. Ie sweden is less religious than catholic Italy and Spain.

Still far fewer scientists in USA believe in god than the general population of the USA.

I worked with a few who were religious. I worked with a few who were not. Overall the atheists were the majority, but a sizable minority believed in god.
