Do gods wonder where they come from?

You do understand the difference between god as a noun and God as a proper noun though, right?

"That God sure is a swell god.... but Thor is not a good god"

Just because monotheists co-opted the noun as a name for Yahweh doesnt mean you get to be all pissy when people use "god" correctly.

Sheeesh.

ps. I realise dylan is a troll (especially how he tactlessly got all defensive and then accused everyone else accused everyone else of being defensive) but its a point worth making anyway.

As to the OT: Do you think gods wonder where their creators came from? :)

i dont know, but i wonder if they use special pleading like, I am the causeless cause of all causes :D

An infinitely tall cup is existing is infinite in only one dimensional plane, that is not infinite at all.

How much water can fit into the infinitely tall cup?

How much more water do you think can fit in a cup that is infinite in every possible way?

I have a cup that is infinitely big in every possible way. How many infinitely big cups in every possible way do I have?

Now you are getting the idea. If it is infinite in every wady it has no outer limits. The unit one or a god referred to as the one is a limited unit with outer limits. Monotheism is a very limited idea of God.

I think you are confused about what I am arguing.

Something with infinite qualities is still one thing. It is more than zero things. It is less than two things.

Would you be offended and accuse me of name calling if I call you a pantheist?

well I am simply going to disagree if you say that something without limits fits the definition of the unit one.

You're making pedantic arguments that make no sense outside of sounding deep to you. You're making what Daniel Dennet refers to as "Deepisms".

The alternative to an infinite god that is everywhere and everything according to you is an infinite number of gods. So if you believe there is something that is anything like a god, you're either claiming there are several different gods, or one god with infinite capability, or an infinity of gods.

Claiming a god is not one monotheistic god because it has infinite properties is nothing but nonsense.

An infinite universe is still a universe.

You're getting lost in irreducible logic by trying to claim something is not able to be a thing if it's made up of parts.

Monotheism (from Greek μόνος, monos, "single", and θεός, theos, "god") is the belief in the existence of one god,[1] as distinguished from polytheism, the belief in more than one god, and atheism, the belief that there is no god.

That's what I say.

It is not nonsense it is fact even if you cannot understand it. You cannot reconcile the definitions of the terms you use, yet you insist they must agree.

Dylan, what is the difference between a monotheistic god, a pantheistic god, and a polytheistic god?

You're basically pretending there is an issue with confusing monotheism with pantheism here.

It is not nonsense it is fact even if you cannot understand it. You cannot reconcile the definitions of the terms you use, yet you insist they must agree.

Do you know what pantheism is?

You're trying to change the definitions of long-established words so they reconcile with your...um...thoughts.

Do note you're entitled to do so, but also note that few will take you seriously.

evidence for yet another claim?
