Here is a DIY experiment that should convince the mainstream gravity is a particle once and for all. Using the exact same parameters, you measure the sum of the gravitational attraction of the Moon and the Sun not aligned and aligned. There should be a slight offset if gravitons lose energy by traveling through the Moon, making them officially a particle.

That would put the nail in the spacetime curvature coffin once and for all. Next.

No doubt you have personally done this experiment to prove that your proposal is correct. Please post your results.

I didn't do the experiment yet but just to have an overview:

- Sun's g: G*1.9885e30/(1496e8^2)/9.8 = 6e-4
- Moon's g: G*7.342e22/(384400000^2)/9.8 = 3.38e-6

The iPhone's gravimeter is precise enough to go down to these orders of magnitude. You just need to go in some desert to eliminate any interference.

This is Nobel Prize material right there and I'm not kidding.

Then get busy man! You don't want anyone "doing it themselves" before you "do it yourself". Be sure to notify the Nobel committee just as soon as you have published.

Yeah, thanks. I just wanted to do a head's up here.

We're in freefall around the sun. You can't use an accelerometer to measure the pull while it's in freefall.

What measurement from an accelerometer on the surface of the earth would you expect to give you information about the strength of the sun's gravity?

You aim the Sun and away from the Sun so you should see a small shift in the gravitational acceleration.

Well, ...

I expect that you are correct with your statement that there would be a very small difference in the gravitation field here on Earth depending upon how the Moon and the Sun are aligned. After all, this fact has been well established since Galileo showed that ocean tides are caused by the gravitation pull of the Moon some 500 years ago.

However, even if the variation in the Earth's gravitation field could actually be measured with precision, then I fail to see how such a variation automatically establishes the fact that gravitons are actually particles.

So you have:
Earths <------------> Moon <------------> Sun

The Moon should create a "gravitational shadow" of the gravitons emitted by the Sun because they should lose energy by going through the Moon.

So you have:
Earths <------------> Moon <------------> Sun

Seems like this effect could be tested to at least a close approximation just by looking at tidal data.

Earths <------------> Moon <------------> Sun

The Moon should create a "gravitational shadow" of the gravitons emitted by the Sun because they should lose energy by going through the Moon.

Sorry if I sound obtuse, but I still fail to see what you are driving at.

After all, originally you were claiming that by carefully measuring the various changes in the Earth's gravitation field as shown by different alignments of the Sun-Moon-Earth, that such changes would somehow prove that Gravitons are a particle.

And now you are talking about measuring the variation of Graviton energy as based on the Sun-Moon-Earth alignment, however I do not know of any way that one can measure the energy of Gravitons.

1- So you measure the gravitational acceleration of the Sun and the Moon independently when they are not aligned.

2- You wait until the next eclipse and you measure the gravitational acceleration of the Moon aligned with the Sun.

Thus the following should be true:

g_e < g_s + g_m

Where:

g_e: g of aligned Sun and Moon (eclipse)
g_s: g of independant Sun
g_m: g of independant Moon

But I am not trying to predict the offset yet, just the relation.

Sorry, but your writing is rather unclear is quite unclear and as such I am quite unable to figure just what it is that you want done.

Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could state your proposal more clearly.

Thanks much.

It's a DYI experiment that our intrepid reporter has no intention of doing by themself.

And philippeb8 has no idea why it was posted here, so philippeb8 cannot be looking for anything to be done by others.

The op and subsequent thread are completely pointless.

Not at all, I will do it myself. I am just confirming it wasn't done in the last century yet.

I also already took the initiative to perform an experiment with the ISS National Lab and found interested investors already.

The same thing with a gravitomagnetic experiment I already performed myself, proving the 19th century Maxwell's analogue with gravitomagnetism to be completely wrong:

Thanks.
