Democratic caucuses and primaries

By the way, are you guys using touchscreens for your elections?

They should probably scrap them and go to paper ballots and tell everyone to bring their own ******* pens. Either that, or at least have plenty of alcohol spray around to wipe the screens and your hands.

Ya, that last change was prompted by somebody getting certain other candidates to drop out at exactly the right moment to maximize its effect. It's hard to come up with another stunt like that.

The biggest thing left that could change things now is debates, but the next one isn't until almost a week after the next round of primaries/caucuses, and even on that, the DNC is already looking for ways to try to tip it toward Biden.

Oh Delvo, mate! Come on, I would love for Sanders to win, but all the other candidates dropped out because they had no chance anymore. The fact that Biden benefitted from them dropping out doesn’t indicate a conspiracy. It just means that if they had never been in it at all, Sanders May never have done as well as he did.

The only way that things could have gone otherwise, I suppose, is if the debate stages had been Sanders vs Biden and Biden had to talk for half the time. In that case, maybe Biden would have been in big trouble.

The next debate is going to be fascinating.

The issue isn't that they did so; it's when.

Maybe not conspiracy, but at least strategic coordination. If I were going conspiratorial, I'd be bringing up a roughly 8-percentage-point discrepancy between exit polls and official results, in multiple states, by some amazing shocking coincidence always favoring You Already Know Who Without My Saying It. (Where's our innocently whistling smiley‽ How can we not have an innocently whistling smiley‽)

Dallas County asks to recount Super Tuesday election results after 44 thumb drives discovered

Doesn't even matter who's vote percentage goes up or if its nefarious or not, this is what kills democracy. Everyone can easily ponder on "how many times has that happened but nobody noticed?"

Sanders just has to exceed expectations - Biden has to defend or widen his lead.
This isn't over, but I get the sense that voters would prefer it was and are ready to settle for Biden.

I'll be surprised if Biden doesn't widen his lead tonight. My working hypothesis is that Bernie has a ceiling around 40% whereas Biden is more broadly acceptable to Democratic primary voters who formerly supported Beto, Buttigieg, Booker, Harris, etc.

Keep an eye on Washington State, but don't expect they'll have it all counted anytime soon. If Bernie doesn't win in the progresssive NW, he's not going to catch up.

Just voted. My polling place, in a heavily minority community, had signage almost completely obscured by trees resulting in myself and numerous other confused people to attempt the wrong doors (to a posh pre-K school where parents dropping off their kids were visibly upset at all the people jostling locked doors all over the building).

The secrecy panel for the ballot was supplied, but when I approached the machine, a poll worker "helpfully" removed it in full view of everyone saying it isn't "needed."

There's a little green sticker on the ballot counter indicating to insert the ballot there, but in fact it goes in the gap just below that tray.

This is America.

WTF! This is ridiculous.

Paper ballots yes, but touchscreen registration confirmation.

They did have little stylus pens, but either way, it's a commonly touched surface, so it makes no difference.

One last 538 model update as polls open for "3M Tuesday," the first electoral event of the Dems' two man race.

Let's just say that either these guys have a good model or else #BernieSurge is happening beyond Twitter—perhaps neither—but definitely not both.

I hope they declare a winner soon so they can finally update that stupid "Race for 2020" Chess Set commercial that keeps playing on TV.

WTF are thumb drives being used to hold ballots? Asking for trouble.

Dry run for the General Election.

A useful reminder of how truly "democratic" the country is, comparatively.

Local polling places are set up and administered by local poll workers, typically a volunteer position filled from the local community.

It's only really a useful reminder of how truly democratic Delphic Oracle's own local community is.

Which is to say, pretty democratic, but rather incompetently run. The solution is not to petition the federal government to swoop in and solve the problem. The solution is for Delphic Oracle to get more involved in arguably his local community's most important activity.

The mayor of our city, while making a video for social media to encourage citizens to vote, was turned away from his polling location as "not registered."

It is believed the poll worker entered his first and last names backwards.

Our mayor is African-American.

I wonder what message his video really ended up reinforcing.

For my money, it's "Voter ID: working as intended."

Your community needs to do a better job, recruiting poll workers?

Your mayor needs to do a better job letting people know when he's going to be using them in a photo op, and give them a chance to practice so they don't flub their lines?

Seriously, have you considered being a poll worker?
