The risk is that the Democrats will nominate someone who ends up depressing turnout down-ticket. Losing the presidential election would be a setback. Souring the House races would be a disaster.
 
Sanders is doing some brilliant equivocation between "cost to everyone involved" and "cost to the federal fisc" right now. He does this so often I feel it should have a shorthand by now.

Lloyd Bentsen killed it for everyone when he did a clever against Dan Quayle. Now everyone wants to get that interrupt zinger and everyone knows not stopping when talking is how you defend against it.

Drinking Game. Take a shot anytime one of them says "I'm the only one who..." to something that applies to literally all of them.

Also just once I want to see someone on a debate stage not wearing a suit or pantsuit.
 
And Bloomberg is, yet again, just goddamn obsessed with how big of a soda I should be allowed to drink.

It is like he thinks that smoking bans are about smokers and not those of us that have to breathe in their exhaust and wash the smell out of our clothes.

Which is why his analogy is just garbage. He'd outlaw extra well done steak if he could. He's an authoritarian is some sort of large way.

Another aspect of that is that the federal government acting in bad faith about snatching up and deporting people might be a bad idea when trying to stem a pandemic. "No seriously, we are just trying to help. Don't worry. Come on down and get tested or treated."
 
Uh-oh...I did say that it is not a vote winner to talk up any good points about Cuba. Sanders has done that just now. It makes no difference if you say you condemn them too. Your opponents get their sound bite.
 
Pete Buttigieg is filibustering Sanders' attempts to clarify as well. Smart tactics by Buttigieg and poor by Sanders. He dug himself a hole.

Klobuchar is getting frustrated by people not paying attention to her.
