Demand Koran Replace U.S. Constitution

They drew it out of a hat. :D

Why would god create such bizarre creatures in the first place, if He'd have to create a ban on eating them?

Presumably, his thoughts went like this: "Hmmm...I think I'll create rabbit-like creatures that consume stuff that comes out of their ass that isn't quite poop but is actually a good thing to recycle (which, I'll admit, seems like an inefficiency developed from evolution, but no, I did design it). People will misinterpret this as eating poop, so I had better declare it unclean and unsafe to eat. Of course, people who disobey and eat the poopeaters will get thrown into Hell by me, praise my goodness. By the millions. I can forsee this with exacting certitude, but I must proceed with the creation of said animals, followed by the banning of their consumption. Praise Holy and Good Me."

Old episode of Taxi, supposed to be a flashback to when Latka was planning to leave his country for America. His mother tries to dissuade him, telling him it's a dreadful place: "They eat chickens and keep dogs for pets!"

Non-(specific religious)-approved food served at a soup kitchen? Easy: "Here's some food. Eat it or let your god come down and feed you."

Hopefully followed by "But before we eat, rather than say a prayer, let's ponder the bizarrity of a god who would throw you into hell for eating a hot dog. Why do we worship such a demented idiot-savant?"

Exactly. And that's a non-Kosher hot dog....

Claus, you are cracking me up. The food restrictions were lifted for Christians by Paul in the book of Romans. If you need a specific verse to clear up your ignorance, I will be happy to oblige.

Not all Christians in Paul's time orginated from Judaism. The early Christains were a mix of Jews and Gentiles. Gentile-Christians could eat whatever they wanted, while Jewish-Christians were trying to abide by the Old Testament Law. Thus, the book of Romans to straighten out the conflicts between the different original belief systems. Peter ("the first pope") had to call a special council to deal with it all.

I am perfectly aware of the many contradictions in the Bible. In fact, is there any religious dogma that does not try to impose rules on us, be it socially, morally or cuisine-wise?

I am pointing out that it is grossly misrepresenting the facts to single out Judaism and Islam for this reason (pork) without also including Christianity. All three have a problem with pork.

Romans 14, starting at verse 14:

14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

In other words, "one man's meat is another man's poison." :)

Completely wrong. Christianity does not have a problem with pork. See my previous post.

Your insistence in the face of reality is astonishing. Do you really believe Christians don't allow the eating of pork?

Hense the [christian] church socials at a pig pickin'. I'm sure there are christian religions that have a problem with pork, I've just never seen one.

Otoh, I don't know of a Muslim religion that doesn't have a problem with pork.

That depends on what version of God's word you believe in.

Right?

Dec 24 & 25

La Nochebuena y la Navidad, Christmas Eve and Christmas. In many Catholic countries, people attend midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Preparing traditional foods is also an integral part of the holiday. Mexicans get together for a “tamalada” or a tamal-making session. A tamal is usually made of shredded pork and corn meal called masa, and tucked into a corn shuck or leaf. Puerto Ricans prepare pasteles puertorriqueños which are encased in plantain leaves and stuffed with black beans, pork, raisins, and other ingredients. Cubans often have a lechón asado, a roasted pork dish.

Please provide evidence of any Christian religion that does not allow the eating of pork.
No, no, no. You are missing my point.

If you take God's word for granted - the duty of any Christian - that you can't eat pork, then you can't eat pork. It says so, clearly, in the Bible.

It is all in the interpretation. People's interpretations of God's work. Once you start interpreting your God's word (and your God is the same God in all three religions), you can't start pointing your finger at the other two religions.

That's religious bigotry of the worst kind.

Nope. Just willful religous ignorance of the worst kind on your part. Which is its own kind of bigotry on full display right now.

Oh, goody, another CFL thread where we get to debate why there's nothing in a hole, how a road can run both ways, and how high you have to go before you're in the sky.

Very well explained. Thank you.
