Split Thread DEI in the US

Trausti isn't completely wrong. DEI is there to address relevant sources of discrimination in the workplace. Where he is wrong is that he believes it lowers or removes qualification standards, which it does not.

Of course, it does. What is it's purpose? It values identity over everything else.

We already that before DEI, i.e., equal opportunity. What is DEI adding that we actually need?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Duh.

No, it isn't. If standards actually mattered, then a person's sex or race would be completely irrelevant. But DEI makes it the most relevant thing.
I just finished telling you that "standards" aren't what DEI cares about, but qualification.

Of course, it does. What is it's purpose? It values identity over everything else.
Its purpose is to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Double Duh. Look those words up in any dictionary if you are unsure what they mean.

Without diversity you have conformity. Is conformity good? No.

Without equity you have injustice. Is injustice good? No.

Without inclusion you have discrimination. Is discrimination good? No.

And if you have successfully eliminated conformity, injustice, and discrimination, congratulations! You've just done DEI.

Costco is in a unique position. It's king of the hill in the warehouse business. It can do these virtue signaling things because it's already a billion dollar company that's cornered the market. The same with the tech companies that said the same thing when there was lots of money to pay the tithe. But when those companies were forced to look at the bottom line, those diversity initiatives were gone.
Oh, but that's different.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Duh.

There are all values that threaten White Supremacy, which is the reason people like Trausti hate it.

Imagine the lack of reading comprehension it takes to quote thaiboxerken telling you what the purpose of DEI is, and then in response ask what the purpose of DEI is. Or is it intentional obtuseness? Performative faux outrage over a reasonable attempt to correct clear and demonstrated problems in order to signal allegiance to a political party lead by a professional troll? Who knows.

Then why should someone's race or sex matter at all? Please, please, explain.

Its purpose is to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Double Duh. Look those words up in any dictionary if you are unsure what they mean.

Oh, so it's racist.

Without diversity you have conformity. Is conformity good? No.

If conformity means a business can actually work and be profitable then, yes, conformity is good.

Without equity you have injustice. Is injustice good? No.

You're the one saying it's okay to discriminate against someone because of their sex or race. Please, don't pretend you care about justice.

Without inclusion you have discrimination. Is discrimination good? No.

You're the one saying it's okay to discriminate, not me.

And if you have successfully eliminated conformity, injustice, and discrimination, congratulations! You've just done DEI.

You've done none of those things. You're just trying to excuse your own bigoty.

Good, grief. You're making excuses for racial discrimination.

Why should someone's race matter at all?
The question of why race should matter at all ignores the reality that it clearly already does. If it truly did not matter, we would not see the documented lack of call backs for resumes with black sounding names despite having equal qualifications. Clearly, race already matters to some people in the process. DEI is an attempt to stop that nonsense because while race does not affect the ability to do the job, it far too often affects the ability to get the job.

Nonsense. You're saying it's okay to discriminate against someone because you don't like their skin color or sex. That's just wrong.

Imagine being so privileged that you try to frame being stopped from discriminating as the actual discrimination. You are arguing that any effort to fix a biased system is an attack on the people who currently benefit from that bias.
It's a common thing that white supremacists do. They want to reframe anti-discrimination as discrimination.

Then why should someone's race or sex matter at all? Please, please, explain.
It shouldn't. Only whether they are qualified or not.

Oh, so it's racist.
WTF are you non-sequituring a claim of racism in response to a statement that said the exact opposite? Oh yeah, right. Never mind.

If conformity means a business can actually work and be profitable then, yes, conformity is good.
Can you demonstrate this? In any industry? How can conformity possibly lead direct to profitability? Please, go into detail.

You're the one saying it's okay to discriminate against someone because of their sex or race. Please, don't pretend you care about justice.
I'm literally saying that it's not okay. What part of

What matters is qualification. Is a person qualified for the job? If they are, then sexual preference or colour of skin or religion or whatever are irrelevant and should not be considered.
are you having problems with?

You're the one saying it's okay to discriminate, not me.

Without inclusion you have discrimination. Is discrimination good? No.

It's almost like you're not even reading what I'm telling you.

Wait, wait, that's wrong.

It's exactly like you're not reading what I'm telling you. You are repeatedly saying that I'm saying the opposite of what I'm saying. That's not only dishonest, it's transparently dishonest.

Nonsense. You're saying it's okay to discriminate against someone because you don't like their skin color or sex. That's just wrong.
Back to poor reading comprehension? Or more performative 'get things wrong badly because my tribe demands that I do'? I'm explicitly saying that said discrimination is going on now, and has been for centuries. DEI is an attempt to stop it, which is the crux of your complaint about DEI.

Imagine being so privileged that you try to frame being stopped from discriminating as the actual discrimination. You are arguing that any effort to fix a biased system is an attack on the people who currently benefit from that bias.
You're not trying to stop discrimination at all. You're promoting that view that's okay to deny someone opportunity because of their sex or race. How do yo not see that?

Art - It you actually were not support racial discrimination, then you'd not support a process which denies someone opportunity because of their sex or race.
