Split Thread DEI in the US

@d4m10n laughed at @Trausti's argument but pretended he was laughing at @Darat
I was laughing at Darat's joke which was obviously made in jest! Do I need to footnote that sort of thing going forward?
@d4m10n must believe the Declaration of Independence's moral principles are inevitably grounded in mysticism
I've already said "One can endorse a conclusion without believing that the chain of reasoning to get there was valid" and you've already quoted me saying that. The conclusions I was talking about are the moral principles which the founders grounded in deistic natural law.

Assuming "many of us accept those moral principles without relying upon mysticism" then presumably we have our reasons, and presumably they are the sort of reasons which can withstand skeptical inquiry.

ETA: Perhaps those reasons can even be made to somehow connect up to the justification for DEI. o_O

now that we’ve gotten rid of the dei hires, we see a drunken pete hesgeth promotes lethalitymaxxing in leading the new war with iran, a drunken kash patel taking a break from the epstein cover up to slam beers with the men’s hockey team while making fun of the women’s team, and melania trump presides over her first un security council meeting. but at least she wasn’t drunk
Pure meritocracy.

lol that must feel like a slap in the face. pretty soon you guys can't even win dei arguments. what do you have left lol

I wonder how our local defenders of meritocracy are going to spin this.
She is manifestly more qualified for the job than its previous occupant, having attained at least one college degree.

That said, it's difficult to imagine how a background in Christian doctrine and jurisprudence is supposed to help guide decision makers at a nominally secular public university with a strong focus on military studies. We've come a long way since the Book of Joshua, most of those tactics are war crimes these days.

The previous occupant was Charlie Kirk, her husband.

It's fascinating to realise that he thinks a study of women during the holocaust is dei, 'cos gender... Am I always dei-ing, just because I'm a woman, even when I'm just existing? And men aren't, 'cos man ain't a gender? No of course not, silly Helen, man isn't a gender, man is the default, woman is an aberration.

Move fast and break things doesn't even begin to describe Doge.

they deposed another guy that looked like he was 12 describing how he stole personal data. i only saw a clip of it

this doge stuff is getting a surprisingly small amount of media coverage

That is the how the administration operates, there is too much news about their other screw ups for that to get any attention.

They just hate minorities they are not for a meritocracy, nepotism is all good with them.

I don't think this is really about nepotism—Ms. Kirk is lacking in family connections within the administration—so much as ideology.

See, e.g. these notes from the most recent BoV meeting:

Mr. Nikolai asked if any members of the five-person DEI office were still at the Academy.

Lt Gen Bauernfeind and Ms. Forrester confirmed that the office had been dissolved. Of the five original billets, three were unfilled. The two members who filled the remaining positions took the Deferred Resignation Program (DRP), and the data analyst who had been assigned to the office was reassigned to another role. They confirmed that Mr. Angiollo was not assigned to the HQ USAFA DEI office.

Elsewhere in the notes one of the briefers assured the panel that "review of the admissions process...confirmed that, with the changes being implemented, the Academy’s admissions process is merit-based and that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) elements have been removed."

This is a seismic policy shift since the last administration, under which the service Academies were still defending race-conscious admissions.

And there was nothing of nepotism having Melania take over the role of leading the UN. Becuase being married to someone doesn't count as being related to them for the purposes of nepotism I guess.

When what they should focus on is legacy candidates and so forth, good old nepostism is where it is at, because that is moral while race conscious admissions are immoral. IT is who you are related to not what you know that is the most important thing to getting into a school or job.
