It means you do not understand Mathematics,
It means that your mathematics can't deal with non-essential properties of given mathematical objects.

http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11284073&postcount=1525 clearly exposes the weakness of your reasoning, and so does the part of post http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11286596&postcount=1539 that is ignored by you (there is a typo mistake of mine there that was copied several times , so in order to correct it each "{X}$X OR {X}$X" has to be replaced by "{X}$X OR {X}~$X").

Everything in Doronetics is nonsense because (1) you don't understand what you are objecting to and (2) you don't understand what you fabricate that corrects the flaws you imagine to exist.
This is another non-informative hands waving of you that is not supported by any detailed criticism.

Except that it was. You forget the context of the remark and the examples you have provided.

You used the word instantiation without knowing what it meant. You claimed you'd done something you had not done without knowing what that thing was. You lied to everyone here.

You have claimed your inventions completeness and successor are something fantastic, yet you can define neither. Instead you bury it in a meaningless tautology claiming it has super powers, and yet you cannot cite a single specific example.

Plenty of details. I should not have to be highlighting them.

Plenty of details. I should not have to be highlighting them.

You don't have to. Doronshadmi is perfectly aware that the arguments made against him are entirely sufficient.

It just sticks in his craw a bit, so he grabs at any straw passing to try and pretend that he hasn't failed miserably. Since the people here don't care to write a full doctoral thesis to refute his nonsense, he claims that the lack of detail is making discussion impossible.

Of course, this is a pathetically transparent dodge. Anyone can see that there is no detail required beyond "you have not defined your terms".

I like how each time I ask for a definition of successor, doron posts links to different postings.

Speaking of which, what is the definition of successor? Not the relationship, not the incomplete, not the complete, not the set X, and not the element X, just successor.

You used the word instantiation without knowing what it meant.
Again you avoid any detailed reply that is related to how instantiation is used by me.

The needed details of this usage and its impact on my reasoning, are given both in http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11285851&postcount=1535 and in the following corrected part of post http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11286596&postcount=1539:

What you are doing is this:

"{} = {}" is a tautology.

"{X}$X OR {X}~$X" is a tautology.

Since tautology = tautology, "{} = {}" is indistinguishable of "{X}$X OR {X}~$X".

This is a trivial way of reasoning.

A non-trivial way of reasoning enables to distinguish between "{} = {}" and "{X}$X OR {X}~$X" as follows:

"{} = {}" can't be used in order to define optional (non-essential) properties of mathematical objects, according to their relations with each other.

"{X}$X OR {X}~$X" can be used in order to define optional (non-essential) properties of mathematical objects according to their relations with each other, where http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11285851&postcount=1535 is a concrete example of such non-trivial reasoning.

What you call instantiation is simply another name to force {X} to be a successor of X by using the wff "Y$Z <=> Y = {Z}", as if being a successor is an essential (non-optional) property of {X}.

Between these two posts I asked you to provide your view about instantiation, and your hands-waving reply (that does not supply any details about instantiation) was:

Without understanding the meaning of the term, you boldly provided links to multiple posts wherein you claimed instantiations were provided? Is this your preferred method of building credibility? It is not working.

By the way, instantiation is a common enough term in Mathematics. You asked about it once before, and I told you what it meant once before.

So I ask you for the second time, more precisely:

jsfisher, please be more informative about your use of instantiation, by providing in details all what you think is needed in order to discuss about instantiation and its usage among the issue at hand.

A given reply of "By the way" style
By the way, instantiation is a common enough term in Mathematics. You asked about it once before, and I told you what it meant once before.
is not a sufficient reply for further discussion about the the issue at hand.

Also http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11284073&postcount=1525 clearly exposes the weakness of your reasoning about the issue at hand.

--------------

So I am waiting for your detailed reply, that may be enables a fruitful basis for further discussion about the issue at hand.

In case that you are missing it, it is about the distinction between optional (non-essential) and non-optional (essential) properties of mathematical concepts.

--------------
EDIT:

Some analogy:

If we use Symmetry for better understanding of the issue at hand, then non-optional (essential) properties of mathematical concepts, are invariant under different points of view (for example, a ball shape is not changed under different points of view), where optional (non-essential) properties of mathematical concepts, are variant under different points of view (for example, a cylinder shape is changed under different points of view).

"{} = {}" is equivalent to ball shape, by this analogy.

"{X}$X OR {X}~$X" is equivalent to cylinder shape, by this analogy.

Do you not see the hypocrisy in this, doronshadmi?

At any rate, I explained the term once already. If that wasn't sufficient for you, then since it is a standard term and I am using it in its standard meaning, any of multiple resources on Mathematics will provide adequate information for most people to understand the term.

Now if you can only spend that much effort defining "successor".

Please define successor. No links to links to links.
http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11284084&postcount=1527 is your response to a post of mine, which explains the issue at hand vary simply.

In case that you are missing it, it is about the distinction between optional (non-essential) and non-optional (essential) properties of mathematical concepts, where a vary simple analogy (based on the concept of Symmetry) is given at the end of http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11287835&postcount=1546.

If you understand these simple explanations, then and only then you are able to understand why {X}$X OR {X}~$X is the exact definition of the issue at hand.

Now if you can only spend that much effort defining "successor".
It is already done, all is needed is your understanding of it.

So please provide the link to your explanation.

That is not my "expected definition". That would require it to be a definition.

It is not.
So you also disagree with jsfisher's "Y IsSuccessorOf Z <=> Y = {Z}" definition.

In that case, instead of just disagree with anything, please provide your definition of "successor".

So you also disagree with jsfisher's "Y IsSuccessorOf Z <=> Y = {Z}" definition.

That was never my definition. That is your definition, derived from a sequence of posts you made about the meaning of successor. It is your definition that you now deny because you discover that to define your invented vocabulary is to find out it doesn't behave as you wanted.

In that case, instead of just disagree with anything, please provide your definition of "successor".

Nonpareil correctly summarizes the consequence of this sentence.

At the end of post http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11271171&postcount=1375 you wrote:
It would save some time and trouble if you'd just confirm it is still

X IsSuccessorOf Y <=> X = {Y}
From this post forward you force X IsSuccessorOf Y <=> X = {Y} on me, by rejecting the wff (X IsSuccessorOf Y) OR (X ~IsSuccessorOf Y) as a tautology (where according to your reasoning tautology is useless).

Here are the steps:

1) Your "It would save some time and trouble if you'd just confirm it is still X IsSuccessorOf Y <=> X = {Y}" clearly shows what is the desired definition according to your reasoning.

2) After I showed that (X IsSuccessorOf Y) OR (X ~IsSuccessorOf Y) is a wff (accordinf to http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11269502&postcount=1344) that does not follow your reasoning, your "song" has been changed to point out that tautology is useless.

3) In http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11284073&postcount=1525 I used your usage of the color analogy, in order to show that your reasoning about the non-usefulness of tautology is insufficient, since it can't be used (as can be seen in http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11280054&postcount=1488) in order to distinguish between "{} = {}" and "(X IsSuccessorOf Y) OR (X ~IsSuccessorOf Y)" ( "(X$Y) OR (X~$Y)" is the same as "(X IsSuccessorOf Y) OR (X ~IsSuccessorOf Y)" ).

4) http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11287835&postcount=1546 shows how to distinguish between "{} = {}" and "(X IsSuccessorOf Y) OR (X ~IsSuccessorOf Y)", and also how instantiation is simply another name to force {X} to be a successor of X (which is equivalent to your attempt to force "X IsSuccessorOf Y <=> X = {Y}" from post http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11271171&postcount=1375 forward).

5) Your evasion of post http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11290882&postcount=1556 is clearly seen.

So this time please answer to http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11290882&postcount=1556, that may help to realize that my argument about instantiation (as given in (4)) is wrong.
