While I support the decision to continue social distancing policies, I wonder how effective more harsh enforcement measures will really be.

Needlessly harsh practices, like encouraging people to inform on their neighbors, seems more likely to engender bitterness than compliance. That anyone thought setting up a covid-19 tattle hotline was a good idea shows a real disconnect with reality. The flood of dick pics and memes is the very predictable outcome of this effort.

I have a feeling we are going to see more leaders showing their authoritarian sides before this is over.
