Er its not mandatory you know........


Its a simple cheap test that detects an easily treated infection that affects a large percentage of under 25's. I don't see much difference to the yearly medicals that seem the norm in the US, but again what ever floats ya boat.

There are frequently no symptoms and it causes sterility.

It is also quite prevalent in the UK, this age group has been shown to have the highest incidence.

There is this thing the NHS has been doing over the last decade which is quite innovative, called evidence-based medicine.

All of the testing is confidential.

Drug testing isn't that common in the UK, and I am fairly positive if a doctor wants a drug test to help with a diagnosis or treatment, they can't be used for legal purposes.

I have had a sports drug screen, and it had to be sent to the US.

Another one of those evil, evil things about socialised health care.

This is how this would work, the NHS lab would find the abnormal result, phone the GP surgery, get the out of hours number, check on the computer for the patient's address and phone number, call the out of hours service, they call the patient, no response, call the police.

What a horrible infringement on your privacy by the government.

The recommendation in the UK is that homeopathy doesn't work and that it should no longer be supported by the NHS.

I suggest you look at the site, it is quite interesting.

You provided a link to NHS direct, not NICE, where they give advice and information on all health topics. No where on the link for homeopathy is any evidence for homeopathy given, just the history and principles of homeopathy, many of which people would not be aware of.

If you notice, there is a video about 'placebo effect' on the link you provided as well.

Does the NHS pay for homeopathy or not?
 
This would be a relevant question if anyone had asserted that everything the NHS does is evidence-based. The campaign to rid the system of this hangover from political pressure in the 1940s (when it was grandfathered in) is seriously hampered by the influence a certain heir to the throne is bringing to bear on the woo side. But progress is being made, Tunbridge Wells is closed with more to follow.

You know, Wildcat, you sound like a woo declaring that homoeopathy (for example) is obviously valid medicine because Big Pharma produced thalidomide.

Got a text from the NHS today. 'Test result OK' was the message. Hopefully the OK doesn't stand from something bad.
