Cuba taken off the terrorist sponsors list

Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz remaining mum so far. I'm sure by the time they appear on Parade of Republicans on the Sunday morning chat shows, they will have figured out how to continue to object.

Thanks, Obama. You'd think the Cold War had been over for two decades or more...: rolleyes :

I don't think Cuba's status as a sponsor of terrorism was ever only about the Cold War:

According to the US, the Cuban Government has taken no action against al-Qaida or other terrorist groups. The Government of Cuba maintains close relationships with Iran and North Korea, and has provided safe haven to members of ETA after an agreement with the Spanish government (under Felipe González), FARC, and the ELN. U.S. fugitives from justice and ETA members are living legally in Cuba.

Harboring members of ETA, FARC, and ELN by itself would make them a candidate for the terror sponsorship list, regardless of their past affiliation with the Soviet Union.

I don#t know about Iran, but North Korea was taken off the list of state sponsers of terror some years ago. So maintaining ties with NK is not really a strike against Cuba.
