Conspiracy theorists who come through the JREF forums often amaze me with their lack of understanding of what this community is all about. These misunderstandings fall into three categories:

1. Those who automatically assume that we are sheeple who only believe what we're told
2. Those who automatically assume we are government shills
3. Those who present their case about the conspiracy theory by simply stating unfounded conclusions over and over again

Just who do you think we are, conspiracy theorists? Have you ever gone beyond this particular forum to see what else is going on here? How much passive acceptance of ideas and pandering to the "government" do you see?

And what is it with people like Heiwa, who state over and over again what their beliefs are and expect us to simply accept it as a universal truth? Do you guys understand that this is a community of skeptics? Do you know what skepticism is?

When you come here, we will expect some form of support to your ideas. If not evidence, then at least some smattering of thought that went into forming the idea. Instead all we get are agenda-driven conclusions and parroting of claims from questionable sources.

Remember The X Files? Perhaps you should consider why stories about conspiracy theories were lumped in with those about ghosts and aliens and succubi. They are all extraordinary claims that lack evidence, that most people think are nonsense.

If I'm wrong here, then educate me, please.

I assume that people see a banner saying "a place to discuss skepticism, critical thinking, the paranormal and science in a friendly and lively way" and assume that that's what they'll get.

As an aside, in a truly skeptic "community" Heiwa would have been neutralised very quickly and faded into the background but, you guys have become so entrenched in your behaviour patterns that he now has two threads containing over 2000 posts to his name.

This is what always gets me, considering I am an ex-conspiracy theorist who would've been ready to cross back over if there had been ANY real evidence presented in the 8 years since 9/11.

Of course that's before the NWO paid me to switch sides, but if it makes the CTers feel better I ONLY accept Ameros and gold as payment (and hookers. Lots and lots of hookers).

How exactly does this follow?

How exactly do you envisage such a neutralisation happening? Heiwa will continue to repeat his opinions on the board ad nauseam. They are either countered, in which case he continues to repeat them, or ignored, in which case he continues to repeat them. Did you have a third option?

Did you have a third option?

Admit he's right, you shills!!

We could "neutralize" him in a CIA kind of way, I guess.

Is that what he meant?

Heiwa has been 'neutralized' repeatably. However, internet forums are like cartoons: If a guy is run over by a steam-roller, he does not die. He doesn't even bleed. He just pops back in shape after a short while.

Not that I want Heiwa to die or bleed, but that is the reason he does not stay neutralized.

That said, I'm often amazed at how many people keep bothering with such people, but there is actually another thread about that.

Usually the response to me on here has been a mix of the 1st criteria, and a comment along the lines of "I'm not an expert because *insert reason why I'm wrong and CT experts are right*"

Essentially they feel that the information they get is more accurate than that which someone is posting based on a full study of the related fields, and that their own experts are wholly infallible. Some are just arrogant and have no intention of admitting that they made a massive fail

At some point, for this site to not become a joke (and sadly due to the trolls and those who feed them, it has), moderation must step and say, enough is enough. This topic has been beaten to death and kill it and only allowing it to be resurrected when something new is claimed. Of course that would effectively kill the 9/11 CT sub forum.

Hey! I got noticed! ;)

Has anyone else noticed DC being a much nicer person since Obama was sworn in? And people say Obama hasn't accomplished anything!

It would also lead to triumphant whingeing about censorship among the truthers, who would claim that the mass banning of 9/11 Truth from the forum specifically set up by the government to oppose them is the final proof that they were right all along and that the whole thing is a conspiracy to shut them up.

I was brought to this excellent forum by a 'nut' who linked to a thread here claiming that people were openly admitting to being members of the NWO. Which you guys are doing-in humor-something that seemed to escape him.

I checked on that dude a few weeks ago, he is still at ATS spreading doom and gloom. Haven't seen him mention you guys recently thou.

Not if it was done correctly - all threads would still exist and could be read and anyone with half a brain would know what was going on. The rest won't be persuaded regardless of how many times the claims get debunked.

Someone shows up - makes a claim about free fall - an auto reply says search the forum and review, if they have a new aspect to the claim, it gets posted if not, nothing.

I realize it's simple in concept and more difficult in practice. At this point 9/11 forum exists to feed trolls, that's it.
