Cruz steps into the ring...

Quite a genius, yes, especially since he thinks that Galileo championed the idea that the earth is round-ish, something that they had known for two millenia, and not the Copernican system of heliocentrism.

I had it on good authority that Bugs Bunny proved to Queen Isabella the Earth is round by throwing a baseball really, really far.

Basically, whatever insurance Cruz signs up for has to meet the standards of coverage set out by Obamacare. He can use the exchanges or not as he chooses. Something tells me that he will not have to worry about meeting the minimum requirements. Few wealthy people do.

If the US of A is so wonderful, why did Cruz Senior move to Canada for a job? Could he not get one at "home"?

My favorite line about this so far: "Ted Cruz just announced his candidacy for the nomination for Vice President."

Nobody's purfikt - and Ted certainly should be a nobody.

From Wikipedia:
Cruz was born on December 22, 1970[6][15] in Calgary, Alberta, Canada[6][18] where his parents, Eleanor Elizabeth Darragh Wilson[18][19][20][21][22][23] and Rafael Bienvenido Cruz,[21][22] were working in the oil business.[24][25] His parents owned a seismic-data processing firm for oil drillers.
Most likely he bid on and won a contract that took him to Canada. No big deal. I consider Ted unqualified to be president for multiple reasons, but the location of his birth isn't one of them.

I think he is perfectly qualified to run. Perfectly.

But why did his daddy have to leave the country to get work? Couldn't he get one in the US rather than taking a job from Canadian citizens?

Just asking questions. :(

I'd guess there was an oil boom there at the time and good opportunities available. And not enough locals with the requisite skills, at that moment.

Peter King (R,NY), invoking the usual "intelligent person", goes to the essence of Cruz' character.
“Ted Cruz may be an intelligent person, but he doesn’t carry out an intelligent debate. He oversimplifies, he exaggerates,” King continued. “He doesn’t provide leadership and he has no real experience.”

"Shutting down the federal government and reading Dr. Seuss on the Senate floor are the marks of a carnival barker not the leader of the free world,” he added.

And the complaints poured in from many of Cruz' more intellectual and no doubt good Christian followers.
“What I do find revealing is the number of vulgar, rabid and adolescent-type — phone calls my office has received from Cruz supporters,” he said. “The puerile language used is what most kids outgrow and move beyond when they reach sophomore year in high school.”

And then the zinger. Pete King does make sense sometimes.
Still, he said, “we must ask why he has such an unusual appeal to this low denominator in American politics.”

I think in the last few days that Cruz has guaranteed that the Powers That Be in the GOP(ie,the Billionaires club) will make sure he does not get within a thousand miles of either the Pres. or the Veep nominatation.
