The state of Texas may not be as lame as originally feared. The Institute for Creation Research decided to move to Texas, but Texas denied their accreditation to grant masters degrees. The ICR appealed but the court smacked them down.

It appears that although the Court has twice required Plaintiff [the ICR] to re-plead and set forth a short and plain statement of the relief requested, Plaintiff is entirely unable to file a complaint which is not overly verbose, disjointed, incoherent, maundering, and full of irrelevant information.

Sounds like they hired Orly Taitz to write their legal stuff.

Ah, ha, ha... Goes to show their cheap tactics. The US South is where the creationist movement is strongest so they decide to screw over every sane person there in order to spread their nonsense.

I tried to look for the name of the judge, but I failed. It would be nice to learn who people can rely on for sound judgement and common sense when it comes to this topic in the courts. :)

The ICR can't even get past step one? Even laypeople manage that on a daily basis. Where the hell did they get their lawyers?

The same trash can they find their scientists in.

Ooh, this one has a piece of peperoni in his hair.

I can't get my Head around exactly what research they do at the Institute for creation research.
I thought it was a done deal, signed and sealed in the Bible. Do they sit in a circle smiling knowingly at each other?

What leagal arguments to use to get creationism into school. After all it isn't the institute for creation research in a scientific manner.

Here in Atlanta ga we have been fighting back. The FFRF or Freedom From Religion Foundation regularly has lawsuits against this kind of nonsense. Like the rest of the world atheism is growing in the southeast despite what you may hear.

I will have a look. Something tells me this aint gonna be pretty.

It's not. Here's a little taster from the "science" section.

"Energy is not currently being created. The universe could not have created itself using natural processes because nature did not exist before the universe came into existence. Something beyond nature must have created all the energy and matter that is observed today. Present measures of energy are immeasurably enormous, indicating a power source so great that "infinite" is the best word we have to describe it.

The logical conclusion is that our supernatural Creator with infinite power created the universe. There is no energy source capable to originate what we observe today. " :eye-poppi

Their research: They carefully read the leading scientific journals, muttering "Is not!" and "Uh-uh!" and "Oh no, you di'int!"

I have a feeling that whoever this judge is, he is an avid reader of the classic works of Judge John E. Jones III:
The citizens of the Dover area were poorly served by the members of the Board who voted for the ID Policy. It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy.
The breathtaking inanity of the Board’s decision is evident when considered against the factual backdrop which has now been fully revealed through this trial. The students, parents, and teachers of the Dover Area School District deserved better than to be dragged into this legal maelstrom, with its resulting utter waste of monetary and personal resources.

Naw. It appears that they are simply stupid or cannot allow themselves to edit a work of fiction. At least they didn't overtly insult the judges and prosecution.

Ummm, that sorta sounds like you think the Center for Disease Control is in Atlanta for some good reason. How does that square with your posting about Conyers over in the Jewish Dance Group gets Stoned thread? Oops - no, I'm sorry. Mixing bigotry with atheism there.

Carry on.

Here is the text of the court's decision if anyone cares to read it. This part caught my eye:

Having addressed this primary issue, the Court will proceed to address each of ICRGS’s causes of action in turn, to the extent it is able to understand them. It appears that although the Court has twice required Plaintiff to re-plead and set forth a short and plain statement of the relief requested, Plaintiff is entirely unable to file a complaint which is not overly verbose, disjointed, incoherent, maundering, and full of irrelevant information.
