Creation Science Fair...


1st Place: "My Uncle Is A Man Named Steve (Not A Monkey)"
Cassidy Turnbull (grade 5) presented her uncle, Steve. She also showed photographs of monkeys and invited fairgoers to note the differences between her uncle and the monkeys. She tried to feed her uncle bananas, but he declined to eat them. Cassidy has conclusively shown that her uncle is no monkey.

My first reading lead me to believe it was true, but I have switched my opinion to parody.

1) the "science" fair results are from 2001
2) the location of the fair is never mentioned
3) Baptists would never let Muslims participate in a fair. Some Baptist churches are so anti-eccumenical that they refuse to have joint prayer services with Catholics.
4) the kids page includes a Spriritual Saftey Tip explaining what to do if one encounters an atheist (they are easy to spot because "they are always sad").
5) the costume advice in the Halloween into HalloWitness page is clearly parody.
