Craig Ferguson bashes The Secret?

I saw a great commercial on TV last night mocking the Secret. A group of people in business suits were in an enclosed ski lift in the summer going to a meeting at the top of a mountain. The lift stopped suddenly and some people in the car started to panic. One young guy stated he went to a seminar where he was assured that positive beliefs would equal a positive outcome. He started saying 'we will get through this' over and over like a mantra and had others join in. Meanwhile, the hero of the commercial found the restart button and pushed it. The lift restarted and the guy who started the mantra took full credit for the lift starting again. He said positive thinking works everytime. A pretty girl who had earlier paniced looked at him lovingly and said he was a hero.

Woo gets girls. I may go over to the dark side yet.

Yes, woo combined with an appearance of confidence does get girls.
But girls of dingbat and flake character.

Not this girl. It's like my Kryptonite. Or... well. Not a good analogy. Unless there's a color of Kryptonite that made Superman roll his eyes and bite his tongue to keep from going off on a diatribe about the many flaws of said Kryptonite.

Eager to see this video, though, I'll have to wait until I'm not at work.

Percentage of dingbats in the world >> 50%
Percentage of flakes in the world >> 50%

Hrm... the dark side is looking better and better... :D

Sorry zombiebex,

I was just fooling around. Of course I'm not going to the dark side. I read your post about loving dinosaurs. My dad believed in purchasing books his children were interested in reading. In my case it was Spiderman and dinosuars. I'm a dinosaur expert. I also know about Superman.

We seem to have a lot in common. Do you live in the New England area?

'Fraid not, Senex. I'm a Mid-westerner. And I heart Spider-Man.

But us brainy woo-hating girls are out there!

That's an intesting topic to delve into... the ratio of men to women in skeptism versus woo. Hmmm.

I have a question: Who would win in a fight between Spiderman and a dinosaur?

That depends on the dinosaur. The nastier it is, the more likely he's going to have to call in help from The Avengers.

Unless Luke Cage is around of course.

Spider-Man.

Spider-Man wins everything. And of course he's fought dinosaurs!

And then of course there's Stegron.

The "Secret" is that if you think positive then your thoughts warp reality so that positive things happen to you. It's nothing more than a 5,000 year old crock philosophy all wrapped up in new age mumbo jumbo and sold to unsuspecting dolts.

LostAngelas...That's classic. The fact they even have the pyramid diagram on their website.

I do have to ask, did anyone save the original of this image? They have changed it around a lot to make it seem that they are not what they really are.

This isn't only "Secret" related but related to all pyramid schemes. I lived in an apartment complex in Atlanta for five years. The complex catered to younger single people. No Bul**it, one Saturday I came outside to play water volleyball with 11 other adults and one person I knew followed by another two emerged early. They quickly acknowledged who came first and who had the first chance to speak to me while the last three took a seat and watched. The lucky first guy explained how he and the two others in eyeshot of me signed up for a deal the previous evening. For a measly $250 they were able to receive discounts from reputable lawyers from all over the world if needed, but more importantly, they could sign others up for $250 (and put half of that $250 in their own pocket) if you wanted to sign up for a worldwide discount on reputable lawyers, and the abilities to let others sell discounted lawyer fees.

I was looking at these guys as if they had three heads. They had enough on the ball to afford living in a nice apartment complex but were idiots enough to write a check to a crook. It was much easier for me to remember friends of my mom selling cosmetics for a living and selling other women the abilty to sell cosmetics; that was a scam -- but selling discounted lawyer fees was beyond belief. Yet these three were well employed young men and all three bought into it. Two of them were completly sold on my explanation they were taken and did what they could at that moment to get their money back. The third kept to his beliefs and hated me later for simply telling the truth. The first two never recovered their money as far as I know either.

Foolishness.

Scams are scams. "The Secret" makes more sense than the "Lawyers." Yet they both are scams.

Does anyone know anything about Craig Ferguson bashing The Secret?

No, but who would win a fight between Craig Ferguson and a dinosaur?

Sorry, just joking, but I like Craig Ferguson even more now if he bashed The Secret. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Craig would kick the dinosaur's arse.

It looks like the Official Secret Seminar is no more. It has morphed into the SGR program.

http://thesgrprogram.com/

It looks like one of the teacher's from the Secret has also withdrawn his support as his picture is no longer at the top of the website. They no longer mention Ellen or Oprah or other TV shows that have discussed the Secret. However, it still looks like a pyramid scheme.
