CPAC 2021

There appears to be an ongoing debate over whether the CPAC stage was deliberately designed to resemble an Odal_(rune)WP or whether it's just a weird coincidence.

I'm sure there's all sorts of other weird **** going down as well, and I didn't see another thread on topic.

At this point it's not hard to believe it was intentional.

At some point you think they'd eventually create an "Accidental Nazi" quality control system, that would vet their symbols for Accidental Nazitry.

If they cared.

The Trump Faithful are outside CPAC waiting for the Chosen One to appear and give them "guidance" as they're all "waiting to hear the next step" as one just told a reporter. Nope, they're not cultist at all. Not at all. I've never in my life waited for a politician to tell me what to do, least of all "next". These people need an authoritarian to tell them what to do because they can act on all their own racist or otherwise negative beliefs and avoid personal responsibility. They've not only been give permission to do so, they've been told to act on them.

Just to reinforce what I said above, Mary Trump said in an interview today when asked why his followers continue to support him: "He gives them permission to be their worst selves. He actively champions their white supremacy and we need to be very clear what this is. White supremacy is not some fringe thing that only the KKK and the Proud Boys embrace it's,becoming mainstream Republicanism at this point."

Are you serious? It's already a zombie corpse. The "committing suicide" thing happened years ago. The good news for the GOP is that millions upon millions of GOP voters apparently like zombie corpses more than actual humans.

I can easily see Trump getting the nomination for the GOP again. And I can easily see him being their best chance of winning in 2024. If they select a normal person, they probably lose because they will have pissed off their lunatic base to appease their non-lunatic fringe. If they try to go Trump-lite with somebody like Ted Cruz who just doesn't quite have the shamelessness to double down on his escape to Cancun, then they lose as well because he is hated by lunatics and non-lunatics alike.

At this point they have nobody. But they need to use Trump till 2022. Mitch might get to run the senate. Trump will fade away. They will have a big fight at the primary. Then, magically, before the election they will fall behind the candidate, be it Cruz (has potential, he hates liberals), or Nikki Haley.

As a rune-American, I have to protest and say that Othalan is being profiled. It isn't always used by Nazis!

Well, I mean the winged version pretty much is only used by Nazis now...

More seriously while it seems like a crazy thing to do intentionally to dog whistle to white nationalists, it also seems like a crazy thing to do accidentally while making a well designed stage. I don't know what I think is more likely; they're crazy evil enough to do it on purpose or they're crazy bad enough at stage design to do it because they thought it was good.

I'm hoping that the stage was designed by some liberal-minded venue designer, and the whole thing is a complete and successful trolling of the GOP.

With their disrespect of the venue, I'm hoping you're right and the company saw their bad behavior coming. Not the most professional thing to do though. Sometimes you have to stick it to the organizers where you can I guess? I mean, I didn't even do something vaguely like it when I was scheduled eighteen events in three days (and I ended up picking up three more, some conventions can be damn crazy).

It wouldn't be the first time. Remember the thing with the ticket-buying?
Yep. It's what made me think someone did it again.

Professional shmofessional. CPAC had been on the calendar for many months, which would have given someone time to think through the plan. So it was a pretty good troll...if it really was one. And I'm suspecting it wasn't, though, and was simply coincidental. *sigh*

I just read Trump's speech. I read it rather than listened to it because I preferred keeping my dinner contents within the confines of my stomach. The fact checkers are going to have a long, long night with that one.
I'm pretty sure they can just pull out their previous list and rearrange the order.

Or just say it's the same fact-less BS and be done with it.

Bunch of tickets to a Trump event were purchased just to piss off the organisers. Turns out there were far less people going than they thought, and they were made to look like fools.

Reserved not purchased as there was no fee for the ticket.

I'm seeing at least three distinct possibilities here:

A) Liberal trolling the GOP (your scenario)
B) Cons deliberately triggering libs
C) Accidental design convergence

Ordinarily I'd've guessed "C" but . . .

Just after the Donald finished speaking, his niece Mary put the boot in, suggesting he will only pretend to run, in order to continues raking in the donations.

As if he'd do such a thing! ;)

I think there may be some benefit to him ACTUALLY running, as opposed to only putting on a dog-and-pony show (where he doesn't enter the primaries, or drops out early).

- He'd likely get increased donations, and/or more avenues to funnel money into his businesses. If he teases running but drops out before (or early in the primaries) it will limit the contributions

- He would miss out on the worship he gets from the crowds

- While he is an actual viable candidate, he can portray legal actions against him as "politically motivated witch hunt" (regardless of the evidence against him). The MAGAchuds would certainly be on board, and even his opponents might tread carefully. The moment he is not a viable candidate, he can no longer make that claim.
