Corbyn's days (very) numbered?

Rather than that, it is Corbyn who should ignore bonkers rules and go.

Yes, if he cares about Labour or the country,he should demonstrate statesmanship for the first time.

He h
hi no chance of getting his policies though as Labour leader.

I'm sorry but this is no different from seeking to legitimize Trump because a lot of people supported him in the primaries. People voted for both of them because they are unhappy with the status quo and voted for an 'outsider', without really knowing much about what he really stood for or considering how any of their promises would actually work in practice.

As demonstrated with the Anti-Semitism report Corbyn can't go 5 minutes without putting his foot in his mouth.

For me it seems that there is a difference between Corbyn and Trump. Despite what Reed's letter says, I don't think that Corbyn was the one that caused all these rifts in the Labour Party. Labour MPs have been enraged with him from the beginning and been trying to get him ousted since he became leader. If there have been any "poisoning" attempts it is by those MPs. This is not to support Corbyn myself, as I do not. However, I know what people look like when they gnaw on sour grapes.

Donald Trump has indeed been actively attacking various members of the Republican Party; Corbyn is usually calling for unity albeit in his typically meek style.

But there is one area where I can see a similarity, and that is in your use of "legitimize". The people who voted for Trump and Corbyn actually have legitimized them according to the Party rules and the will of those allowed to vote. If you were a Republican from the non-lunatic fringe of the party and you were observing that the Republican voters were voting for crazed loonies whenever they got the opportunity then would you not start asking yourself if maybe, just maybe, you ought not to be in that club any more? I think the reason that these MPs don't draw that conclusion is because, as pointed out above, that many of these people are only where they are because they have sucked up to the right clique of people and been selected for safe seats which don't require any wooing of the electorate.

This video series ought to be required viewing in all schools imo.

CGPGrey is an ex schoolteacher, turned video maker who produces short educational videos, and this series on voting systems is one of his better ones.

Oops posted too soon as the point was expanded later.

Jeremy Corbyn's aides are allegedly preventing him from meeting with the elected deputy leader of the Labour Party, in case he resigns out of sheer unhappiness. Some in the party are even describing him as a 'hostage'. This is clearly an inhumane situation. Corbyn should be released immediately, and allowed to return to the peace of his allotment with dignity.

Has it occurred to people like Jamie Reed that while Corbyn may be rubbish, that is what his party wants. If he doesn't like it then maybe he is in the wrong party.
Perhaps all the MPs who feel this way should quit the Labour party. Form an alternative Labour party, perhaps. Or join the Liberal Democrats, I'm sure they would be grateful of an extra couple of hundred MPs.

Then Corbyn could lead a little party with about 25 MPs, issuing ideologically pure policies that nobody paid any attention to, because he'd made himself completely irrelevant.

The problem with that is that the party name and organisation, and the blind loyalty of millions of voters, would remain with Corbyn sect. Far better for the country, and for Labour, if he took his little band of followers off into The Socialist Labour Party, or something.

From longterm Labour supporters and politics geeks elsewhere, they say it is the SWP

This is what that is alluding to:

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jul/02/corbyn-keeps-watson-arms-length

Jeremy Corbyn’s aides are refusing to let Labour deputy leader Tom Watson hold a one-to-one meeting with him, claiming that Watson will try to “bully” the leader into resigning.

A senior Labour source, close to the embattled leader, said they had blocked Watson from talking privately to Corbyn because they have a “duty of care”. “They [Watson’s aides] want Watson to be on his own with Corbyn so that he can jab his finger at him,” the source said.

“We are not letting that happen. He’s a 70-year-old [sic] man. We have a duty of care … This is not a one-off. There is a culture of bullying. Maybe it’s a Blairite/Brownite thing.”

If your leader is so feeble that he can't deal with emotional pressure from a single person, he is unfit to lead.

I was suggesting the formation of a new party, rather than subsuming the Corbyn cult into the SWP. People's front for the Liberation of Judea.......:D

The problem is that Corbyn is still getting support from all those £3 members who voted in favour of him because he is 'anti-establishment' and unions who want to believe his promises to roll back decades of union legislation. Neither group comprehends that this is a man who is an easy target for the right wing media to demolish, and whose campaigning skills are non-existent.

Yes, I think that is something those Labour MPs should very seriously consider.

They could call it New Labour!
Or The Real Labour Party
