Split Thread Conservative Voices (Split from Muller Investigation)

There's your answer then. If you view yourself on the conservative end of the spectrum and chose Trump over Clinton, then on some level you associate Trump with conservatism (or at least more conservative than Clinton). Therefore any Trump criticism you encounter will be perceived as coming from the left. Lots of Trump criticism at the ISF ---> your perceived big shift left.

Easy-peasey, lemon-squeezie.

Can we call the forum left leaning now? Or do we need more results? :D

In this spirit, there was a "Through a Rapists Eyes" letter that made the rounds many, many years ago that claimed to be compiled from what convicted rapists revealed (Found a copy). I spoilered it for space and ickiness.

I found this horribly offensive, because in the list it NEVER says "Rapists look for..." but rather "Men look for...".

Stupid. Offensive. Grrrrrr.

The really stupid thing about that list is that most rapists just look for drunk friends or acquaintances.

That's probably an overly course way to put that but what I mean is date rape is far more common than a stranger on the street.

Being a skeptic's forum it's fact leaning.

It just so happens that at this point in time fact leaning is also left leaning because the new Trump brand of conservatism is anti-fact.

Not to mention the GOP has been leaning anti-fact for decades leading up to Trump.

That is not true.

Trump is not anti-fact. He is alternative fact.

Nope, that's just marketing.
Even if all facts supported his point, Trump would make up impossible gibberish, because facts just aren't good enough.

Not sure if you got the joke. "Alternative fact" is what one trump surrogate (conway) called one of trump's lies. Usually people know that it is referring to something wrong.

The main difference between the two men is that David Duke is persona non grata among the high profile elite, and justifiably so.

Whereas, Louis Farrakhan gets special invitations -- Aretha Franklin funeral -- and gets to sit front row alongside his pals President Bill Clinton, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson.

Louis Farrakhan Leads ‘Death to America’ Chant on Solidarity Trip to Iran

"Nation of Islam leader and prominent antisemite Louis Farrakhan led chants of 'Death to America' on Sunday during a solidarity trip to Iran.

"Illinois Democratic Representative Danny K. Davis said of Farrakhan, 'I don’t regard Louis Farrakhan as an aberration or anything, I regard him as an outstanding human being who commands a following of individuals who are learned and articulate and he plays a big role in the lives of thousands and thousands of people.'

"Recently, a photograph surfaced of former President Barack Obama meeting with Farrakhan in 2005 while he was a senator."

My brain has been auto-correcting Algemeiner to Allemagne for years now. I guess I thought that it was a Franco-German publication.

Thank you for reminding readers that Trump Jr is severely fact-challenged, like his ignoramus of a father.

Obama said:
I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan.

Are they unaware of Farrakhan’s current politics?

In an interview published Friday, Farrakhan exalted Trump for destroying their common enemies. As Farrakhan explained, “The nature of this administration is good for us,” adding as a compliment, “There’s never been a president quite like Mr. Trump.”

Then Farrakhan spelled it out in detail: “Trump is destroying every enemy that was an enemy of our rise.” The 86-year-old Nation leader then asked rhetorically: “Who is the enemy of our rise?”

Just look at how the right is responding to Farrakhan celebrating Trump. We aren’t seeing a chorus of condemnation. In fact, we are seeing worse than silence as two visible conservatives actually praised Farrakhan for his words of support for Trump. Candace Owens, the spokesperson for the very pro-Trump organization “Turning Point USA” and frequent Fox News guest, took to Twitter to praise the significance of Farrakhan’s words: “In no way do I endorse Farrakhan’s views but holy crap this is a really big deal. He has just aligned himself with Trump’s administration. What is going on in the black community right now is unprecedented. Flag this. It’s relevant.”

And then recent Trump convert Glenn Beck praised Owens’ assessment that Farrakhan’s praise of Trump is “huge.” But not a peep from either Beck or Owens about Farrakhan’s documented history of anti-Semitism.

While over on Trump loving Breitbart, the headline declared “Louis Farrakhan on Trump: ‘He Is Destroying Our Enemies,” where they highlighted his support of Trump. Only in the very last paragraph of that article was Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism even mentioned--and then in passing at best.

Calling out the right for a double standard is a fool’s errand. They truly have no shame in their hypocrisy. But we must do it so that we don’t normalize the bigotry and hatred that Trump and some of his supporters are spewing. Simply put: If we remain silent, the voices of hate – be they Trump, Farrakhan, Duke or others—win.

Not a registered Democrat, but sure, I'll denounce Farrakhan.

I'll also denounce Trump, who makes up **** about "middle Easterners" in the caravan.

And I'll vote straight Dem, more or less, tomorrow, because Trump needs fewer enablers. Whereas, it turns out, Farrakhan is nowhere near as threatening to the well-being of the US.

"At least seven members of Congress — including Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee, Danny Davis, Andre Carson, Gregory Meeks, Al Green and most famously, DNC whip Keith Ellison, have all sat down for personal meetings with Farrakhan while representing the American people in Congress. Farrakhan even attended a 2005 meeting of the Black Congressional Caucus. At that meeting, former president Barack Obama even smiled for a photograph with Farrakhan just three years before becoming president."
