"Conservatism" an invention by the bourgeoisie

I think these elections are beginning to show that modern "conservatism" is nothing but an invention by the bourgeoisie to keep the workers at each others neck. A brother against a brother.

It's high time for the workers to rise up and begin to work together against the bourgeoisie elite that want to cut the workers out of the profits of their labor.

These elections may be a necessary loss, in order to enrage the workers, as the workers will only continue to get poorer and the rich bourgeoisie continue to accumulate the fruits of the worker's hard labor.

This all will become very evident, as the conservatives at the command of the bourgeoisie will claim that unemployment is evidence that the worker has excessive wages, while they themselves will demand pay increases for pointing this out.

We have two years. That should be sufficient time to unite the workers. Especially as the subjugation of workers becomes more evident in the next year. The populist fervor this year has shown that the workers do have rage, but that it is being controlled by the bourgeoisie elite. Those strings will soon be cut. And we will raise together as one.

Bourgeoise? Unite the workers? Raise as one?

Have I stepped into a 1950s time warp?

I wouldn't have thought so before this post, but at least one person views the world through antiquated class warfare goggles.

They aren't antiquated. They are eternal. You think the rich classes are as ready to roll over and let their riches flow out between their fingers to those who have worked for them? No. They are going to do whatever they can to keep the working class poor. It provides them with a pool of cheap labor. The lettuce they eat, the lawn care they get, all of this they want to be provided at a labor cost fraction of what they earn.

Okay, if you want to persist with this argument, how do you define "working class" and "rich class" for that matter? Are the unemployed part of the working class? How about self-employed tradespeople? Are all people on wages working class? Is there the petit bourgeoise anymore?

Dude,

Do you want me to post a scan of the last invoice I got from my gardener?
I buy my lettuce from the Turkish greengrocer around the corner, I talked to him yesterday and he seems to make a profit. (opened two months ago).

The lives of these people would not improve if you had me Guillotined.

Wait, what am I responding to? Your last sentence doesn't even make sense.

I didn't say anything about Guillotine. Plus you live in another country.

We just need more Revolution here.

When the revolution comes, the bourgeoisie will be the first against the wall.

Well, after the mindless jerks at the Marketing Department of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation.

The US will never have a class-based revolution simply because our working class thinks it is the middle class, and the middle class thinks it is the middle class, and the upper class likes to think it is the middle class but with more money, and the super-rich are all citizens of the Netherlands Antilles for tax avoidance anyway. You just can't engineer a good class revolution with that mix.

that's silly. True Conservatism means exactly what it says. They seek to Conserve those values and ideas that they think are good for the country, or WERE good for the country before they were overturned.

Now, just because many Conservatives today are really pseudo-Conservatives, or Neo-Conservartives, doesn't mean Conservatism itself is some scary conspiracy.

Pity this thread's dying. I was looking forward to daenku32s definition of "working class".

To the thread rescue!

The working class is the people who have to work in order to sustain themselves. The purity of your membership in the working class then depends on how much of your privilege you must try to protect. If you have no privilege (ie no property, or no pride in ownership of your goods) it makes you the purest worker. You are truly working to sustain yourself, and not because you want to keep someone else from acquiring the same wealth you have. The worker doesn't say "you cannot have this", they say "we all should have this, for we all work."

The corporate board members are not part of the working class. They don't want to see a competitor that is as rich and powerful as they are. They want to be the only business on the block. They want to crush their competition.

The working class is a broad definition, and this is because we all do need to work to sustain ourselves. But the ones who certainly are not working class, are the people who want to prevent an entire class of workers (janitors for example) for gaining equal ground. Those who make the claim that because they are janitors, they should make the lowest wages.

The bourgeoisie are the ones who's wealth is sustain only by their exclusive privilege on which they already have. Their "work" involves keeping others from getting what they themselves have.

Added: The unemployed & disabled are part of the workers, for they are simply workers that had their opportunity to work removed from them.

Some of my friends are carpenters, plumbers and concretors. Are they members of the working class?
