Condi Rice: The Right Choice?

Para 1: Yes, pretty much. And they've done it effectively. If you want to compare gays and blacks you're going to have a bit of difficulty with blacks going along with your comparision. Personally, I don't much care. I hope that becomes a greater democrat stratagy.

Oh come on! You can't blame the Democrats for the Republican inabilites to appeal to black voters. Black people are generally not Republican for the same reason gays are generally not Republican. The Democrats have nothing to do with it. There is no way the Democratic Party could convince 90% of blacks to vote for them through sheer propoganda. Over 50% of all blacks live in the South, so even if what you are saying is correct, then there should be atleast a dozen or so black Republican congressmen. But there are none, so this reflects on Republican voters and Republican policies, not on Democrats.

Para 2: How many blacks ran for congress on a republican ticket? Until you answer that your statistics are meaningless.

Blacks don't run for congress as Republicans because there aren't many Republican blacks in the first place. That's what I've been trying to point out. It has to do with Republican attitudes and policies, as I've outlined above.

Para 3: You're mistaken. It is precisely the 'hard-core' republicans that would vote for Rice. It's the dixiecrats she'd have a problem with. These are reg. democrats from the south that always vote democrat locally and usually vote republican nationally.

Let me be clear: I am not arguing about what would happen if Rice ran against Clinton, because I don't think Rice would win the Repub. primaries in the 1st place.

The facts remain that the Republicans have not voted a single black into office nationally. You have yet to explain this fact except for blaming it on Democrats. If Democrats are manipulating black voters to think Republicans are all racist, then surely there must be some evidence in the form of some kind of widespread propoganda campaign. Do you have any evidence of such a thing, or just a conspiracy theory?

What has the GOP done to encourage the black vote. I can give examples of how they woo hispanics and other groups. But I cant think of anything that targets blacks specifically.
