1966 - 1973: A side-by-side timeline comparisson of the military careers of John Kerry and George W. Bush.

The article obviously leans towards Kerry (or at least, away from Bush) and doesn't seem to carry any of the "dubunking testimonies" the Bush administration is putting forth. But, there it is.

Despite the bias, I think its a good piece. Of course, none of it matters unless you are hung up on Bush's military service. To those people its like some sort of smoking gun.

Definitely an interesting comparison though.

Well, the bias goes both ways. In the Clinton days, dodging the draft was the worst thing a president (or presidential candidate) could have done (aside from, maybe, taking a drag on a joint) in the eyes of a Republican. Now it's the Democrats who are stressing military records, although not as hard as the Republicans did, to my memory.

Its interesting that Bush did much harder drugs in his youth than Clinton did in his, but the Democrats aren't jumping on it. Maybe its because Bush never actually owned up to it. I dunno.

I didn't know whether Kerry had enlisted or was drafted.

Good to know that, like Al Gore, he enlisted.

Interesting comparison.....

Upchurch,

No Bush drug use has ever been confirmed, has it? (I'd be happy to jump on it if it is...:) ). But, rumored drug use really is not something that should be brought up at all, imo....

I think the actual letter he wrote saying he loathed the military was more damaging than not serving for Clinton. Without the former, the latter wouldn't have mattered (as much).

And yes, the GOP attack dogs still would have mentioned it.

Bush looks like a good drinking buddy.
Depends on what you're drinking...

To me Bush looks like the kind of guy who'd lay everyone off on Xmas Eve. And think it was funny.

Kerry looks like Fred Munster right before the camera comes on.
