Come Up With A Good Question to Ask John McCain

Jerome,

I'm not going to dignify this with a lengthy response, for two reasons:

#1, it's a derail.

#2, and more importantly, you're wrong. You're simply completely and utterly wrong.

Mere words cannot describe the among of sheer wrongness you are displaying with this "argument." Even the very word, wrong, doesn't contain enough wrong in it to actually encompass the vastness of the wrong you are presenting.

This is roughly akin to the goobers who run around claiming that we don't really have to pay income taxes, without the legal ramifications.

I understand, you have not the ability to refute the evidence. Voting for McCain by any chance?

Everyone is saying Jerome and I are wrong about McCain's eligibility.

How and why, please tell?

ETA:
The Constitution states, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible for the Office of President.” The 14th Amendment did not alter this provision.

The status of the U. S. Navy Hospital in the Panama
Canal Zone is described by the U. S. Department of State in its Foreign Affairs Manual (7FAM1116.1-4(c)): “Despite widespread popular belief, U. S. military installations abroad and U. S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14^th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a
facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U. S. citizenship by reason of birth.”

Well in case you didn't understand, let me clarify this for you.

When I said "nonsense" I was talking about your post, which I quoted.

This would be obvious to most people by the way that I quoted your post and then described it as nonsense.

But for those of more delicate understanding I am always willing to explain.

What I meant, when I called your post nonsense, was that your post was nonsense.

In describing you post as nonsensical, I meant that it had a nonsensical quality, i.e. it was nonsense.

Your post was nonsense.

Do you now see what I meant when I called your post "nonsense"?

If not, let me clarify it for you. I MEANT THAT YOUR POST WAS FREAKIN' NONSENSE.

Now, admit it like a man. You knew that that was what I meant the first time I said it, didn't you? The point that I was trying (wrongly or rightly) to convey, was that I thought that your post was nonsense. You know that, don't you?

You: :words:

Again, how is it non-sense? McCain is not eligible. At least not without a lengthy Supreme Court battle.

Yikes, would that mean Bu$h would stay in office?

Any Constitutional lawyers here?
Yes. I am. You're wrong. The common law that existed at the time of the ratification of the US Constitution stated that "natural born" citizens include foreign-born progeny of citizens. That definition was adopted in the Act of 1790 cited above and was not altered or superseded by the Naturalization Act of 1795. The Act was cited favorably as recently as 1971 by the U.S. Supreme Court and Chief Justice Taft traced the history of the phrase "natural born" in the common law in a decision in 1927.

Although this has never been applied to a candidate for President, there is absolutely no credible legal theory for believing that McCain would not be considered "natural born" as used in Article II of the Constitution.

References can be found here.

The only people I have seen making this ludicrous claim are the conspiracy theorist segment of Ron Paul supporters.

I would like to know whether he has ever been evaluated or undergone counselling for PTSD.
He has. Several times (as is customary for former POWs). Although conspiracy theorists claim there was a cover-up of some sort of insanity, there's never been evidence of it.

Disclaimer: I have no plans to vote for McCain right now. But I loathe crackpot conspiracy theories, and the Ron Paul forums have been lit up with wild theories of McCain's ineligibility for the Presidency (he's eligible), or claiming he got favorable POW treatment (he didn't) or that he has PTSD (he doesn't).

Back on topic, the question I'd like McCain to answer is to clarify his position on the following:

Should public schools be able to teach Intelligent Design as science?

He used to answer "Yes" to this and then a year or so ago he answered "No" but in a way that was really vague. I'd like him to clarify his position.

Again, how is it non-sense?
In the sense that it is senseless, nonsensical, and bereft of sense.

NOTE: Sometimes I have a fine and cerebral contribution to make to political debate. And sometimes I'm just yanking your chain. This post falls into the second category.

Now please fold it up and cram it up your arse sideways. Thank you.

Now that the rules have changed and your cronies on the Nevada Athletic Commission are making money off them, are you a fan of Ultimate Fighting?

Everyone is saying Jerome and I are wrong about McCain's eligibility.

How and why, please tell?

Because you're ignoring the other part of the equation, the nationality of the parents. All those exceptions apply only to those who would not otherwise be American citizens. In other words, one of the purposes of the law is to prevent pregnant women living near an army base in some third-world outpost from having their children at the army hospital and claiming US citizenship for the offspring.

S. 2128 [108th]: Natural Born Citizen Act

Opps, this legislation proposed in 2004 never became law.

What to think now? If it was already so, why would they need a law to make it so?

Now we have a quandary.

I forgot the relevant language:

Persons Born Outside the United States to Citizen Parents:

This bill clarifies that the term “natural born Citizen” includes children born outside the United States to citizen parents. This provision provides comfort and certainty to members of the American military and foreign services, as well as expatriate families, that their children, too, are eligible to run for president. These children are no less qualified than children born on American soil, and they should not be treated differently. Of course, children born to American citizens abroad would only be eligible to run for president if they satisfied the fourteen year residency requirement in addition to the “natural born” requirement.

Support for the position that the term “natural born Citizen” should include children born outside the United States to citizen parents is particularly well articulated in a law review article by Jill A. Pryor entitled The Natural-Born Citizen Clause and Presidential Eligibility: An Approach for Resolving Two Hundred Years of Uncertainty. This article argues that “any person with a right to American citizenship under the Constitution, laws or treaties of the United States at the time of his or her birth is a natural-born citizen for purposes of presidential eligibility.”

How do you plan to control spending other than stopping earmarks and pork barrel spending, which only comprise a small fraction of the overall budget?

I am so dam sorry to take this a little off topic so if need be you can reply to me a in a private message but.....

From my understanding (which is very limited on the subject) earmarks are not costing anyone really anything. From what i have been able to interpret the money is going to be spent no matter what, and when someone earmarks it they get a portion out of the total amount to go to what they wanted it spent on. Otherwise it goes in another direction.

It is actually harder then you would believe to find a good read on exactly how the process works, and i admit i am probably way off on the topic and would just like to be pointed in a better direction before i get made a fool of.

Thank you to anyone who decides to help!!!:D
