Says the country making off with our oil revenues......

;)

Wales?

Not our fault, maybe you lot should complain less, bunch of miseries. "Oh no, you're taking our oil" (and giving it you back)

"Oh no, you're butchering our culture" (WHAT culture? Since Burns you've produced precisely nothing)

"Oh no, you're subjugating our people and enforcing your own laws upon us meaning we can't do anything, and we aren't allowed to own certain objects because we'll be killed" (Yeah well you deserve it for being miserable)

Bah, bloody Scotland. It it weren't so wonderful I wish it would fall into the sea. ;)

Erm, actually, you can't force laws on us on account of (1) we have an entirely seperate legal system and (2) it's a matter for the Holyrood parliament now anyway. You know we have our own education system, and that NHS Scotland is an entirely seperate body too, don't you?

;)

Laugh all you want. We're the ones with the rising coast line! We'll get agreat view as the south-east of England sinks below the waves and you all move to France.....

Westminister hower can do whatever it likes with regards to that. Scotish copyright law for example is identical to English because statute of Anne is post act of union.

There are similarities and there is UK-wide legislation enacted under both regimes, however there are substantial and fundamental differences on key areas including criminal law, planning and building legislation, land and property tenure, and so on. Amongst these is, for example, defamation legislation - and hence the comment.

The independence of the Scottish legal system is, of course, guaranteed by the Act of Union. Moreover control has wholly passed to the Scottish Government and Westminster now has no control over it other than effectively passing a motion to amend the terms of the Scotland Act. Which would suit me to a T, because it would guarantee a vote for independence in the forthcoming referendum.

We'd go there ourselves, but apparently we've no petrol.

I was talking about the original joining of the United Kingdom, you know, that period you Scots love to moan about? ;)

Westminster can legaly abolish elections (and pretty much anything else includeing itself). There is no requirement for it to hold a referendum on anything.

Constitutionaly westminsiter holds rather worrying amount of power.

Are you really sure about that, though?

See also in the NY Times today how Chinese students in the U.S. are trying to polish up China's tarnished image:

They are possibly Sinos imo. There has been a commotion in gamefaqs over how any pro-chinese stuff is basically sino-chinese trying to kiss China's butt.
