The Citizen's Hearing on Disclosure has been happening at the Washington Press Club this week (April 29 - May 3 2013). See the list of "witnesses" for the names of the usual suspects, such as Steven Greer, Stephen Bassett, Edgar Mitchell, etc.

UFO advocacy group Paradigm Research has paid $20,000 each to former Sen. Mike Gravel and former Reps. Roscoe Bartlett, Merrill Cook, Lynn Woolsey, Carolyn Kilpatrick, and Darlene Hooley to stage a five-day "hearing" modeled after congressional proceedings to examine evidence of UFO sightings and the possibility of advanced extraterrestrial life.

Former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska) says the White House has helped keep the truth about the “extraterrestrial influence that is investigating our planet” from the public.
“It goes right to the White House, and of course, once the White House takes a position, ‘well there's nothing going on’...it just goes down the chain of command, everyone stands toe,” Gravel tells Top Line.

Well, isn't former senator Gravel living proof that that's not true? :oldroll:

HuffPo has been covering the "hearing":

The byline for the hearing: "If the Congress won't do its job, the people will."

That doesn't make this an official disclosure! :newlol

That's a lot of money they want to spend for their belief. Pretty harmless though.

I respect that more than some other, not named here, woo believers, who don't seem to want to actually spend money on their convictions.

Isn't Senator Gravel owing $60k to some Truthers as it is?

Greer's MD is legitimate and he held a license to practice medicine in Virginia, but his medical practice seems to be for show only.

Which just goes to show the importance of always examining an authority's expertise whenever someone makes an appeal to said authority. The fact that Greer has an MD doesn't give him any kind of expertise on the subjects of aliens or government conspiracies, but he still uses the title so as to dishonestly lend himself more credibility. Kind of like Ron Paul, come to think about it.

I've just found an interesting review of Greer's latest UFO movie from a religious standpoint which makes for an interesting comparison with the one on BadUFOs.

Looks like 'Dr' Greer has contracted a bad case of Crank Magnatism.

From MSN:

ETs are here and the White House knows it, says actual former senator

The whole alien conspiracy thing? Turns out it's all true. Extraterrestrials have visited Earth. At least that what Mike Gravel says, and he’s a former senator from Alaska, so he should know. And he knows a lot. It’s dangerous stuff. You may not even want to keep reading. "It goes right to the White House," Gravel revealed this week in Washington, where he was paid $20,000 by a UFO advocacy group to speak at the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure. But how could this information be squelched so effectively, and by whom? "What we're faced with here is, in areas of the media, and the government too, an effort to marginalize and ridicule people who have specific knowledge," said Gravel, who should be marginalized and ridiculed. Trust us. We're the media.

:tinfoil :D
