Cindy's own words

Since we seem to be on the subject...

Here's a bunch of guotes from Republicans when Clinton committed troops to Bosnia (I believe that they're true, but I haven't checked all of them):

"You can support the troops but not the president."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years."
---Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"
---Sean Hannity, Fox News

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
---Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain the y have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy."
---Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of then Govenor of Texas, George W. Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."
---Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
-Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
-Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

Oh, the irony! The cold, cruel, hypocritical irony!

See, this is why the British have a better system. Their politicians are less hypocritical, because they can call each other out in the House of Commons. If Blair makes a statement, and then two years from now switches positions because it's politically convenient, then the oppositon will quote him word for word on what he originally said and basically make a fool of him. We need some of that here.

a stupid woman!

"I'm just curious, I have not heard your answer to this."

"Excuse me?"

"I have not heard your answer, if you wouldn't mind."

"I have two minutes."

"You have two minutes?"

"I have two minutes, so, um, he was- George Bush acted like were at tea party. He was rude to us, and we felt worse than we did after we met with him."

"Mm-hmm. I didn't realize you just had two minutes, we thought we had more time with you today, but uh, I did want to ask, I know you're planning to, when President Bush comes back to Washington, to continue the protest here in Washington DC."

"Yeah, we're taking a bus tour to Washington DC and we're all meeting there Sept 24 for the big Untied for Peace and Justice war protest."

"You did get a chance to meet with some of his senior advisors a couple of weeks ago. Did you get a chance - did they listen to you or did they talk to you?"

"Hello?"

"Hello. Did they listen to you, or did they talk to you?"

"Hello?"

"Yes Hi."

"Um I didn't hear your question. I'm sorry we have a really bad connection."

I know everyone's been waiting for Cindy Sheehan to weigh in on the consequnces of Katrina's swath of devastation.

Unsurprisingly, it's all Bush's fault.

George is finished playing golf and telling his fables in San Diego, so he will be heading to Louisiana to see the devastation that his environmental policies and his killing policies have caused.

Is there anyone here who still seriously believes that this woman ought to be the spokesperson for anything more complicated than a brand of antipsychotic drugs? Is this the voice of the anti-war movement now?

As I said before, she is doing the cause more harm than good.

Not that Dubya's environmental policies aren't pretty horrific. But I'll let him off the hook for the hurricane thing. ;)

As a token of mutual understanding, let me pre-emptively condemn Pat Robertson's inevitable comparison between NOLA and Sodom & Gamorrah.

Appreciated. ;)

His "killing policy"? What's a "killing policy"?

I've got some quote for Cindy:

"The Film Actors' Guild believes that what the world needs is compassion, not violence. All that Team America does is create new enemies."
- Alec Baldwin, Film Actor's Guild (F.A.G.) spokesman

"Let me explain to you how this works. You see, the corporations finance Team America, and then Team America goes out, and the corporations sit there in their... in their corporation buildings, and, and, and see, they're, they're all corporationy, and they make money. Mmhmm."
- Tim Robbins, F.A.G. member

"Last year, I went to Iraq. Before Team America showed up, it was a happy place. They had flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and, and rivers made of chocolate where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles."
- Sean Penn, F.A.G. member

"Matt Daemon."
