when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the "left" started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used

QQ more. If they only supported you when you were against their targets conveniently, what does that make you? And why didn't you see what was obvious to the rest of us til then?

Why should she care what side is currently 'using' her as long as she is holding true to her own Point of View...

To be fair, she expresses some dismay at the egos within the anti-war movement itself. The only thing she is quitting is being their poster-child.

She allowed herself to be used. She just realized how much fun they have been having with her, and it is no longer "good for her."

A lesson for all attention whores, and a lesson to us all in letting our passion and rage hamper our judgment.

No. She was betrayed by a political party which lied to her and let her believe they were truly interested in ending the war in Iraq.

I think the Iraq war would serve as a much better "lesson to us all in letting our passion and rage hamper our judgment."

She was working for something just and her judgment although not perfect isn't lacking in many regards.

I'm glad to see her go. I am tired of our soldiers dying, and I do empathize with her loss. However, I found her shrill and over the top, and sometimes the "attention whore" label seemed to fit.

Was I talking about the Iraq War? Cindy is working on a personal level, the war drum beating was very much a matter of inciting a mob. Not the same dynamic, and not what I was talking about: it was about individuals, not mobs, that I was commenting.

Got it?

"She was working for something just."

Sure she was. Having read a considerable amount of her ranting, a part of her message that is obvious once one reads she has said, is that she was actively working to discredit the judgment of her son in both joining, and staying in, the Army.

Thanks, Mom, but no thanks.

Man, some of the comments there are hilarious.

Cindy, you walk with Thoreau, Gandhi, King

Has anybody here seen my old friend Henry?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
You know, I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend Mahatma?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...

Anybody here seen my old friend Cindy?
Can you tell me where she's gone?
I thought I saw her walkin' up over the hill,
With Henry, Mahatma and Martin.

(Yeah, I know it doesn't rhyme, so sue me.)

I thought I saw her sulkin'
Behind that thar hilll,
Nauseating Henry, Mahatma and Martin.

A suggested revision.

Well said. I was pretty much done with her when she started ranting about getting our troops out of "occupied New Orleans."

Sometimes people base their suspicions on something. No need to get all defensive, I just asked a question. I asked for evidence because I was skeptical of your claim and thought you might have something to actually back it up. I wanted to see if there was anything behind your suspicion. Seem reasonable enough?

Why is the level of discourse in this forum so hostile?
