My comment was about what large central governments are actually capable of doing to solve area specific crises.

There is already billions of dollars of aide being poured into the Sudan and other African nations, yet it doesn't seem to be working. An extra layer of bureaucracy probably won't help.

A unified world government would be advantageous. Take situations like Dafur, those with the resources to put a stop to it can't because they are limited by national sovreignty. A world government wouldn't have to ask the locals for permission.
