THE government of Margaret Thatcher was not known for its friendliness to gay rights or leftwingers.

However, the writer Christopher Hitchens has revealed that when he was a radical student at Oxford in the late 1960s he had sexual entanglements with two men who would later serve as Thatcher’s ministers.

Yeah. I just read Stephen Fry's excellent autobiography Moab Is My Washpot, in which he describes his years at a boys' public school. Apparently those kids are all over each other 24/7. The younger boys are passed around like cigarettes by the older boys.

(It was a bit like that when I was a kid at Boy Scout camp here in the US.)
