New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is telling friends and staff he is taking a role with the Trump administration, according to a source close to the White House.

The GOP governor’s position has not been worked out, but he would not replace *Reince Preibus as the president’s chief-of-staff, the source said.

“Trump told him to be patient,” the source said. “Christie will only take something where he is answerable to the president.”

Trump's been having some problems, so the obvious answer is to add another bully to the staff.

For anyone even vaguely connected to reality, hitching up to Trump pretty much guarantees career suicide. Christie, the poster child for this phenomenon, signs up again. What a tool.

Once bitten, go back for another bite or three.

The dude has a 17% approval rating in his state. He really would be hard pressed to make things worse at this point.

Approval rating aside, Christie isn't too bad of a governor. Most people turned on him when he spent more time on campaigning over his role as governor. New Jersey is a difficult place to fix when it comes to taxes/budget etc. so it will take more than a two term governor to really make a difference, especially a Republican.

As far as a role in the Trump administration, I think it would be a decent choice for Trump. As for the country, it would depend on how he is used. An attack dog put on the hunt of something partisan would be terrible, but given a clear objective that could be positive overall for the country and I think he could be useful.

On a side note, I would be surprised if Trump supporters would be enthusiastic about him being apart of the administration since they think him saying thank you to Obama for aid after Sandy was sacrilege and deserving of capital punishment for treason to the country (only partial hyperbole, depending on the level irrational hate for Obama).

Christie's career was over, anyway. He's very soon going to be governor of nothing and there is no up for him. The Trump White House is his only move. As far as long-shot bets go, it's not terrible to get a White House job and hope it leads to something.

Christie's got the problem of having made himself into an obsequious toadie and spear carrier for Trump. His only value to the White House would be as Secretary of Picking On Senators from Arizona. Donald's got some scores to settle, there.

He also cashed-in all his Facilitator of Dialogue chips when he cozied up to the orange fungus. The videos of him standing in the background nodding like an idiot while Trump disparaged him and his performance are too easily dug up. His 2016 performance leads one to the belief that he was thinking the GOP was ready for a more moderate voice and once he realized which way the wind was blowing he dropped that toot sweet.

Maybe Trump, worrying about a palace coup, will kick Pence off the ticket in 2020 for Christie. At the same time, Jarred still hates him so I have no idea how he could make the White House function any less insanely.

Well you know, Bridgegate, not too many options left for the man. Getting stuck in nasty traffic crosses all partisan lines.
