Christianity dilemma

What do you want from me to prove that I am who I say i am? I have no reason to lie, I have no message of gods word I want to tell you. Heck, I havnt even said anything like I have found jesus, and you all should too. Thats because I havn't, I never said I did because I didn't. This is not a story with a happy ending I have made up to amuse myself, its my life and I was interested to see what you all thought about the situation.

I have gained alot of knowledge and help from some of you it's a shame that the others have to be just so damn skeptical. But then again, this is a skeptics forum, so I suppose I shouldnt be so surprised and perhaps even applaud you for looking so deeply into my post to construct your own idea about who I am and what my intentions were.

Swifty- stick around. There are patterns that repeat here. People see the early stages and predict what will come next often rightly, sometimes not.
If you turn out to be a bearded born again evangelist we will find out eventually and we can discuss that. It's not a big deal, even if true.

You can't prove what or who you are. You can put more info in your profile, but there's no requirement to and you might , of course, fake that anyway. This is the nature of internet communication. Web posting is a limited communication channel. Nobody here can be sure anyone else is who or what they claim to be, or what , if any, agenda they may have: Only behaviour over time is an accurate guide- and even that may be faked by people with a purpose. Some people do wish harm to this forum and to the JREF organisation associated with it.

One thing I've learned here is to downgrade any personal emotional response to other posters. I advise you to do the same. Think about the information content, don't concern yourself with apparent attitude. Be honest. Be yourself. This is best whether you are a sixteen year old sceptic or a sixty year old born again fundamentalist. Cogent argument from such will also be heard and debated here.

Also, remember other posters may be kids younger than sixteen. Cut them as much slack as you expect them to cut you.

Don't worry Swifty. Some posters here have no soul.

Of course, they'd argue that you don't either. :)

God is who you make him based on what type of person you are. Some people need religion for spirituality like some people need a gym to exercise. Most often religion gets in the way of mankind simply because it's the most expedient method of drawing a line between you and other people. The President of the U.S. has claimed he is President because of a mandate from heaven. He claims that he answers to "a higher father," yet his invasion of Iraq has caused as many deaths as Osama Bin Laden. Have you asked yourself, "who would Jesus bomb?" The entire middle-east is in turmoil and religion plays a big part in all of it.

What this world needs is more critical/cynical thinking and LESS religion. If you're really interested in helping yourself, look into Zen Buddhism. :)

(edited to add: welcome to the forum)

Hey, I'm the resident "Strawman perpetually poisoning the well" in Politics, ask anyone. ;)

I go along with Soapy Sam, swifty - stick around, you'll learn a lot and even if you turn out to be "born-again" you'll find out that we're not all Satanists or even bad people. :)

Anyone else notice how swifty's language has devolved into more teen-like usage since his[?] age was first questioned?

I felt from the first post that this was going to be one of those, "there was just so much evidence of god that I had to become a believer" posts and I'm surer now.

Christian Troll.

I agree that swifty does have a somewhat 'suspicious' language, but the other thread swifty started, as well as his/her participation on the messageboard linked to in the other thread make me think that swifty really is who he/she purports to be. Also, I can't see anything trollish in swifty's behaviour so far, but of course I might be biased because I want to believe that a 16 year old can be skeptical and articulate.
