Same here, I'm a ram, she's a rat.

And our future compatability is probably incumbent on me not bringing that up. :)

My wife is Chinese and swears that according to Chinese astrology people with the same birth animal get along extremely well.

My wife and I are both dogs.

China is one of the few places in the world where you can say to people, "My wife is a dog." and they don't look shocked.
 
I'm a Horse, which means I am compatible with Tiger, Dog, Ram.
My wife is a pig and she is compatible with Hare, Ram, Horse.

I also see that the Hare is told to avoid the Rat, but the Rat is not told to avoid the Hare.

Yes, I was aware of that, because it's covered in the Wikipedia article. However, the simplified version on the restaurant placemat didn't cover that, and it's the placemat that I used as the basis for this poll.

In fact, the placemat contains an obvious error that I ignored. The entry for the Dog reads:
Dog
1910 - 1922 - 1934 - 1946 - 1958 - 1970 - 1982 - 1994 - 2006 - 2018
Loyal and honest, you are generous and work well with others though you are sometimes critical. You are ill-suited to the horse, tiger, and the hare, and ill-suited to the dragon and ram.

The pattern in all other entries is to indicate first which ones you are best suited for followed by the one(s) to avoid.

Hmmm. That rules out me and my partner getting into the single scene with you and your partner!

We're obviously a little unobservant though, neither of us in the past 25 years has noticed this incompatibility.

Apropo of nothing, one year at Chinese new year celebrations, I was dragooned into assisting as "a leg" of the longest Chinese dragon in the world.

Sometimes waking up is the high point, but it's not over 'til you put yourself in bed in the evening.
What happens in between can be dull and boring, or enjoying something totally different.
 
Wierd thing is, practically all the "legs" where whiteys, despite the large Chinese population.

Pay back was that it is considered good luck to touch the Dragon - but since it was 20+ years old by then, you weren't allowed to touch the outside.

I had many an enjoyable "vertical lapdances" as revellers ducked underneath to rub up against "the lucky dragon".
Fortunately, for my particular predilections, the revellers choosing my leg were all women.

ETA: The mate who'd persuaded me to participate had called "bad back" when he realised how heavy the thing was at the start of the parade. I can assure you I was not going to hand my pole:cool: back despite his pleading once the revellry got underway.

When the Shuttle Columbia landed for the first time at EAFB, the NASA guys warned us against touching it as we were weighing it.
Right..
Like an airplane nut isn't going to touch the first spaceship to land on Earth! :)
 
How can Monkey be compatible with Ram but Ram not be compatible with Monkey?

In any case, my wife and I don't make the yea or nay list. COme to think of it, that perfectly describes our marriage.
