Cheney to get drunk on Election Day

Scathing indeed. I can only imagine your venom if I'd assumed without reason that you are a drunken would-be murderer. But then, that would be patently irresponsible, particularly on a skeptic's forum.
I didn't assume Cheney is a murderer. I assume he likes to get drunk and go play with guns; hunting after a fashion, except for the part that he doesn't stray more than a few hundred yards from the car. I have good reason to say this. That's what happened last summer.

I'm unimpressed by your crocodile tears about what's irresponsible in a skeptic's forum.

Hence, "would-be."

Yes, we know, you've made your "assumptions" abundantly clear, while unwittingly providing metric tons of fodder for other assumptions to be made with at least as much accuracy.

I'm unimpressed by your crocodile tears about what's irresponsible in a skeptic's forum.

Sorry, did you think I was trying to impress you? You're just full of assumptions, aren't you?

He was drunk when he shot his buddy? I hadn't heard that. Of course you have evidence to support this. Please share with the rest of us.

He had been drinking or a drink or two before he shot his friend in the face then had his minions (or his minions on their own) blame(ed) it on victim. I am willing to believe anything negative about Dick, but even I don't believe he was drunk. It could have been a contributing factor. As a shooter/hunter I do think it is highly irresponsible to pick up a gun after having even one drink, especially bird hunting. Anything is fair game after the hunt is over (though I would not hunt with someone horribly hung over either).

The fact that Dick admitted to at least one drink prior to the shooting was widely reported in the media (maybe not on FNC). Are you questioning whether he was legally drunk? We will never know as the local officials were kept from questioning the V.P. for several hours after the shooting. Or, did really not know about the drinking?

What do you think of how the shooting and the aftermath were handled by Dick? This is an honest question. I want to know if there is anything he can do that you will not lock step jump on board with.

Look at his body weight, consider one or two beers with lunch, an hour or two later he's out and hits his friend. Was he drunk? *shrugs*

For primary reportage, seek last year's stories in the Corpus Christi Caller Times, the paper who scooped the national media, and which was the largest paper near the nowhereville where this all happened.

I'm 225 and would not do it. Have you ever been bird hunting? Were not talking driving a car here...

Hgc is making that claim. I am asking him to supply the evidence he has to support that claim.

OK. I take it you have no problem with my assertion that it was: 1. irresponsible to shoot after drinking at all, 2. that there is no way to know how much he had to drink other then that, what can be gleaned from his own statements because he refused to talk to the authorities, (and the biggie) 3. that it was real sleazy to blame the victim.

As I figure it, God says "I am that I am" and the FSM says "Eat me, with a sprinkling of grated Parmesan chees."

Am I close?

Blasphemer! The FSM demands Romano cheese (the real kind, from a goat), freshly grated - anything else and it's fire and brimstone for all eternity.

I was unaware he had been drinking, period, so I can't say. Probably not a good idea to drink at all while using firearms, but to go from there to claiming that he was drunk, with zero supporting evidence, is arguably libelous.

that it was real sleazy to blame the victim.
Did he do that? I'd like an answer to my first question, first - what evidence is there to support the accusation that he was drunk?

If I were Cheney or any republican I would be hitting the turps pretty hardcore after those election results too.

So is there now a Schism between the RCC (Romano Cheese Church) and the Parmesants?

To be absolutely safe I would not do it. Then again, to be absolutely safe I would never get in a car, period.

Life is inherently risky. As humans we make all kinds of such decisions all of the time without really calculating the relative risk. Some activities are considered stupid and others aren't. Thing is some activities that are considered stupid are less dangerous than the ones that aren't.

What is the relative risk of having a drink and then hunting X amount of time later? Of course it depends on what X is. One can say, just never do it but is that really how we live our lives? Shouldn't we outlaw parking lots at bars? If we should never drive with any alcohol in our system then it would stand to reason that we should.

? Why?

I'm a Republican. I didn't. It looked like Democracy in action to me. I'm perfectly happy with it. Not only that but it was to be expected. With FEW exceptions the party that controls the White House typically loses House seats in midterm elections" — especially in the sixth year.

In Franklin D. Roosevelt's sixth Dems lost 71 seats in the House and six in the Senate.

In Dwight Eisenhower's sixth year Repubs lost 47 House seats, 13 in the Senate.

In John F. Kennedy/Lyndon Johnson's sixth year, Democrats lost 47 seats in the House and three in the Senate.

In Richard Nixon/Gerald Ford's sixth year in office in 1974, Republicans lost 43 House seats and three Senate seats.

Ronald Reagan lost five House seats and eight Senate seats in his sixth year in office.

Allen and maccaca plus graft in Montana gives the lefty-lib nutcases a chance to get a ~conservative in SCOTUS if a slot comes up, although I suspect both sides would fight it for 2 years hoping '08 sides with them.

That's my real beef.

We'll tax hikes don't make me happy, either. Can Bush find his veto pen?
