Cheney Has Heart Transplant

I heard they went through several replacement hearts because every time they'd bring one into the room, Cheney would automatically take a huge bite out of it from habit.

So it's a big joke when the former Vice President undergoes heart transplant surgery, but when someone says "pretend its Obama" at a campaign stop at a shooting range, it's atrociously bad taste?

Yes.

They would be in an uproar if Rush Limbaugh had said the things they said about Cheney about someone else too, regardless of who it was about and why. It's funny how hypocrisy works. Disturbing vile hatred is so obvious to everyone except the one spewing it.

It's almost like there's a difference between a treatable illness and an assassination!

I certainly wish Cheney well, because this is a very difficult ordeal for him.

But let's face it, there are so many jokes based upon the notion of "having a heart" or "heart is in the right place, etc" that it is just human nature to pull some out, especially among those who really don't like him because of past differences and the perception that he lied to the American people.

I don't have a stake in it....erm... :D

Assassination, murder, or advocating such just isn't funny, nor would joking about someone dieing from a serious operation be humorous. These jokes, near as I can tell just point out the humor of the situation. Cheney may even find some funny himself. I don't think any of them is really mean, or wishing death to the man. Perhaps I missed one, if so, then that is wrong.

Yeah, saving a life and taking a life are so much alike.
